Greggs

I should probably point out that I’m not, in general, a huge fan of Greggs. I miss real bakeries and I can’t help but blame Greggs for running a lot of them out of business. I find the icing on the doughnuts to be a bit plastic-​y, the steak bakes weirdly sweet and the sausage rolls flavourless.
I know, I know, Greggs has its place just like any other fast food option and I can’t deny the hangover curing power of some of their pastries. I occasionally pop in for one of their sandwiches, which are actually generally pretty good.
This branch though? This branch should probably be avoided where possible. They’re just so slow! Maybe I’m just getting unlucky but it always seems that there’s only one person serving, even while someone else is working in the back and a queue forms. Usually the person serving seems a bit bewildered.
Last time I was there I was the only person in the store, I went to pay and the person serving looked at me and said «I’ll be back in five minutes.» What? No. They might have come back five minutes later, I’ll never know, I’d already left.

It’s not the healthiest place to eat but I just love Greggs!
Steak bakes, macaroni pies, sausage rolls — I love them all. In the cold winters of Glasgow, the warm and cheap food out of Greggs is brilliant as a quick snack when you’re out and about in town.
I know it’s a chain but the standard of food is quite consistent and you could spend a quid on a lot worse. Brilliant!

A trip to Glasgow isn’t complete for me without stopping in for breakfast or lunch at Greggs. Greggs is a small bakery located all over the city offering a wide variety of both hot and cold baked goods as well as prepared sandwiches. I’m a big fan of the Sausage Roll (sausage in a flaky pastry) and of their Chicken Lattices (think Hot Pockets). Most pastries are priced under £1, sandwiches are all under £3 and the service is really fast. Great place for a quick bite to eat, but they close sometime mid-​afternoon so don’t look for dinner here.

This is my favourite Glasgow Greggs. The sandwiches are always lovely and seem to be fresher than some of the other greggs.
You’ll always get fast service and nice smiles. Only bad thing to say is that you should probably check your bag before leaving, they do sometimes miss the odd thing.
