As a south sider of 6+ years I was totally kicking myself that I’d never been here til last week. I’ve always had the best intentions, but I just never made it. I was in for some food but just made a super quick decision when I saw the menu — Eggs Florentine with added spinach. What can I say, I’m a bit addicted to Eggs Benny and all its variations. This place is really nice inside — classier than your average café and pretty cosy. The breakfast tea was delicious and service was warm and friendly. I loved the presentation of the eggs — generous with a lovely rocket salad on the side and an added side which I think was a potato scone(I ate it too quickly to remember properly). The only reason I have to dock a star is that the muffins were burnt in parts which I know sometimes happen but my god I hate a burnt muffin. The rest of the dish was just lovely though and I really enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable for the area, and as I said, the staff are really friendly. They don’t seem to have a huge deli section(as mentioned in some other reviews) but that wouldn’t put me off going back for lunch or breakfast. Also, it looks like they don’t have a customer toilet but if you ask the staff, they’ll point you behind the counter and past the kitchen down the stairs.

Still a fan after having eaten here almost a year ago. After a crazy workout, the boyfriend and I decided to clean up and head over to Gusto & Relish for a bit of breakfast to start off our anniversary morning with a bang. We looked at the menu at a few places around the area, but decided that Gusto & Relish was the winner. Trying not to negate the workout we had, I attempted to order something more on the healthy side. I’m not sure that worked since I ordered the french toast with maple syrup and last minute decided I wanted to try their veggie haggis. I could see the disappointment in my boyfriends heart, being a true lover of haggis, but I do quite like the veggie option when I can get it. He went for scrambled eggs, a fried egg, beans and toast and a coffee. When our food came out, I was a bit put off the way they piled the veggie haggis on top of my sweet french toast, but I ate it first and got on with it. I made my boyfriend try the veggie haggis, and much to my surprise, although he said he’d never actually order it, he didn’t hate it. I quite enjoyed it and the massive amount they gave me actually filled me up before I even started on my french toast. The french toast was a massive portion. I’m not really sure what I was expecting, but the slices of toast were really thick and perfectly cooked. The wee pot of syrup that came along could have been a bit bigger, but that’s just me being a greedy American wanting my french toast covered in syrup. I would have also loved some powdered sugar(icing sugar as they call it here) and it would have been the best. Needless to say, it was still really great and super filling. I ended up giving a piece to my boyfriend unable to finish the three pieces. The boyfriend quite liked his eggs, beans and toast, but didn’t enjoy his coffee one bit. I even tried it– it was very acidic and bitter. I wouldn’t have been able to drink it, but my boyfriend drank it like a champ. All in all, our breakfast was delicious and the service was great. While we were waiting for our food, we noticed they have a bunch of Scottish goods for sale, which was great to see. For any of you looking for Suki teas,(I’ve been on the hunt and have found they’re only sold online) they sell a few here. Yay!

This is a gem of a café and the best children’s menu I have ever seen. The food is excellent. It is a little pricey but worth every penny

When Easter Monday presented itself as a beautiful sunny day in Glasgow, I knew there was only one thing I should do that day — explore the southside and go out for lunch. Gusto and Relish and been on my radar ever since I saw someone instagramming pictures of their lunch from there. I had to decide for myself, was the food really as tasty as it looked? Yes. Yes it is. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Gusto & Relish. We got there mid-afternoon and there were still plenty of tables available. There were signs on the door as we entered that they were having trouble with card payments, but there were also directions to the three closest cashlines. We were welcomed by two friendly staff members and had a browse of the menu. I really struggled deciding what to get because everything sounded amazing. I settled on a the French Connection sandwich from their fancy sandwich section and a Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade. My boyfriend ordered the Braveheart sandwich and an Apple Juice. The waitress told us that they had ran out of salad leaves so our side salad would be a bit improvised, but we didn’t mind. I honestly cannot remember exactly what was in my sandwich, just that it was brilliant. There was definitely cheese(brie?), pears and possibly walnuts. All I know was that it was the best and biggest toasted sandwich I’d had in ages. Our side salads looked very standard(perhaps someone found more leaves) but it too tasted lovely. I actually got so caught up in my side salad that I finished it all before I started on my sandwich. The Braveheart sandwich was also a winner! We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere in the café, staff were attentive but did not rush us out. We both really wanted cake and tea afterwards but were so stuffed that we couldn’t manage it. Just another reason to go back because all the cakes and tray bakes on offer looked brilliant. I had a little browse of their deli while I was there, and I wish it was a bit bigger, hopefully something they can expand on in their success! Price wise, I think we were around £10 each, a bit on the pricey side, but after my sandwich I wasn’t caring! Only thing holding me back from a full 5 star review was I’m not sure if they have a toilet. Call me strange but can relax more if the place I’m lunching has a loo — although I didn’t actually ask, so that could be unfair of me!

What a lovely little spot that I happened to hit before I left Glasgow. Great coffee and fun, healthy menu. Just a great vibe that feels homey and yummy all at the same time.

Aside from the free wifi in here(I seem a bit obsessed with wifi, I’m not usually! Just this time of year at uni, Yuck!!), this little deli is worth a lunchtime visit. Yummalumm to the specials, they usually have a frittata of some kind on the board. Everything is freshly made in a wee kitchen next to the deli — it always gives me peace of mind when you can see the goings on and give your own wee mental hygiene stamp of approval. Make sure you’re hungry when you go, as the portions are pretty large. I used to work round the corner and would often be close to snoozy after a lunch at Gusto. The menu is well-rounded, they offer the usual soup and sandwiches but also more exciting options like baked eggs Florentine and mahooosive Ploughman’s platter. Pick up some hummus and olives from the deli on the way out the door, because even though you’re super full there’s always room for more later :)

First time in here at the weekend and loved it! We were looking for somewhere quick for a bite of lunch and despite it being very busy, we were in and out in no time so hats off to the guys. Service was quick and friendly and a great choice of menu. We had the Eggs Florentine which was absolutely delicious! Yes, a tad on the pricy side but where else would you find Eggs Florentine, cooked to perfection in your local café? Tea served Suki style, none of your builder’s brew teabags on a string here.

I discovered Gusto and Relish by accident last year when me and Stuart were out on a cycle. We rolled over to the south side after a nice trip along the river and were famished. When Gusto and Relish came into view I thought it was a mirage. But it was indeed real, and thank God for that since we were gasping for tea and a sandwich! The staff in here did not disappoint. With very friendly service even at that later point in the day, the staff rattled us up a sandwich there and then. They made food prep look like an art and had a lot of really well kept, nice kitchen space where they cut the meat off the slab of ham especially for our snack. They had loads of nice deli fillers, made a cracking cup of tea, but most memorable was the food. It is worth travelling through time for. The meat was so flavoured and the sandwich was perfectly cut. I know I’m getting off on talking about a cheese and ham sandwich, and you would think there wouldn’t be much to say about something so simple but it was really that good. We cylced by it tonight in the late evening. We were gutted it was too late for it to be open, and it prompted Stuart to say they made«the best sandwiches in the world». That kind of talk doesn’t come cheap, so take heed — Gusto and Relish is awesome. Five stars, they’re amazing.

i feel lucky to have this great café/deli so close to where i live. i’d say it’s the best place to eat lunch around strathbungo. they always have interesting hearty specials on the board… things like haddock pie or coconut curry. the general menu is populated with soups, imaginative deli sandwiches and antipasto plates. the soups are always delicious and the homemade sausages that the chef makes are very tasty. i have also been informed that they make their cakes with ‘real’ butter and i can highly recommend the carrot cake. you just get a really nice feel in this place. like the owners really care about making a nice environment where you can eat good food. it’s not the cheapest option for a lunch but it’s worth a few extra pounds. the staff are really the best part as they are always so friendly and welcoming.

The verdict is in people to the poll we have all been waiting for…, the votes have all been counted and verified and i can announce that its official… i am tight. Tighter than a ducks arse, tighter than the shoulders of a very tight person who’s recently found out some very intense stressful news and feels incredibly stressed about this turn of events… tight. Eh? Go with it people, sense is just around the corner. Like most of these deli like places that i visit, i end up saying«great place to pick up something special… blah blah quality, blah blah freshness… but…great big ol but… a tad expensive… Gusto and Relish falls comprehensively into the same category. Its nice grub, quality produce, tasty sweet, creamy, cakey goodness… but just leaves you thinking«Christ!!, how many pints could i have bought for the price of that muffin?»… Anyway, despite my supreme tightness, whenever i’m out with the lovely female type one that the state calls«my wife», my tightness is overruled and we end up popping in for a coffee and cake… thank you Mrs D, as its usually fookin lovely. I like this place, its trendy, a little pretentious im my opinion, but with quality throughout. Yum.

I am very fond of Gusto, as long as they keep the door closed in winter! It doubles as a deli, and has a range of delicious light snacks, even if it is a bit on the expensive side. I’ve eaten here once, quite a while back, at a function, so price was no object. I had a delicious meal, which might have been prepared for the group specially. However, I can say that the regular coffee sessions that I have had here have been excellent. The atmosphere is clean and relaxed: it can feel a little formal, but the coming and going of customers undermines this. The staff are patient and helpful, the food choices good and the coffee, my obsession, is on the sweet and creamy side. You can watch the world go by lazily if you catch the window seat. It is odd how this road has a few classy joints, since it more of a main thoroughfare than a residential area, although it is not far from both Shawlands and Govanhill. It’s another treat for locals, I guess: I doubt it has that much casual trade.

A Great wee Café and Deli to sit in or take away, you have a wide range of ORGANIC food to try and they serve breakfast, all organically produced… sausages are home made and taste fantastic! It has a nice atmosphere, quick service and the owners are usually there to make you feel welcome, and answer any questions you have about their establishment. There are also many things on the shelves for you to buy, different sauces, pickles, breads, jams, meats, cakes, salads, sandwiches, toasties, pasta dishes, etc etc etc. Soup and half a sandwich is one of my favourites… as is the full breakfast. No greasy fry up… but lovely sausages, home made potato scone, tomatoe, thick slices of home made bread and bacon to die for as well as free range organic eggs + black pudding. mmm Honestly one of my favourite places to eat! Enjoy.

Gusto and Relish is a funny name. I think most people would like it, I just have an aversion to the word«gusto». I just don’t like it for no good reason. The shopfront is quite imposing, but inside it’s all very light, bright and airy, with big wooden tables for those who choose to sit in. I got a latte and a roll and sausage to go. They make their own sausages, so I really wanted to try them out. Although expensive, it was really nice — the sausages had a little spice to them, which I alway love. The latte was nice and creamy too. The sit in menu looks good — they have soup, open sandwiches and some light meals. There’s a specials board too, which I assume changes on a daily basis. It’s a very good deli, with passionate owners, just a bit expensive to be eating here regularly.
