I have never been treated with such disrespect and rudeness as I was here. On a day out with someone, we stopped off here as my friend wanted a drink. We sat outside of the shop at the small two seated table. The inside of the café was empty, we were the only customers. I was then told by one of the two members of staff that if I wanted to sit there I would need to buy something. I explained that I didn’t want anything, my friend had bought a drink and I was sitting with him. Apparently the owner, as told by this member of staff, wanted only paying customers to sit. Meaning that he/she expected strangers to sit together at these tiny tables. As I said, the café was empty and I certainly wasn’t stopping a paying customer from having a seat. At this point the member of staff was raising her voice and pointing her finger in my face. We decided to leave and as we were doing so the other member of staff came out the café and began shouting at me also. Apparently I had looked at her wrong. To say I was shocked at the conduct of these staff members is an understatement. I would advise anyone to stay well away from La Baguette. I give it one star as its the least I can give it.

If I were French, I’m sure I would find the beret-sporting, stripey jumper flaunting string-of-onioned chap who graces the window of this inconspicuous café a tad grating. Thankfully I’m not, which means I can appreciate La Baguette(French for the baguette) for what it is — a good solid sandwich bar, ideally located for commuters at Partick station. You won’t have the meal of your life here but the food is tasty, the staff are friendly and the prices extremely reasonable. There’s even a small outdoor seated area if you fancy sampling the delights of Merkland Street on a balmy day.
