I had walked past it quite a number of times, and I was intrigued. It looks classy from the outside — and to jump quite far ahead in my review, I like it. It’s a lovely addition to the area. You have to imagine this as a bit of an insider tip really — located on Old Dumbarton Road, not many people find their way down here(unless you live close by or you’re visiting one of the bars), completely out of the way but definitely worth venturing to! I walked in on a whim — I wasn’t going to get my hopes of an appointment up, although every time I had previously walked past, it appeared pretty empty. Anyways, I was in desperate need of a haircut and I really wanted my fringe back before leaving the country. I walked in, and asked if there was any chance of this happening, and to my surprise, they asked me to come back an hour later. The first impression you get when you walk in is very positive. Although a tad loud(but which hair salon isn’t with all the blow dryers, hair washing and music going on?), the lady who welcomed me was lovely and the stylists gave me a smile. When I came back an hour later, I was greeted by name(!) by the same lady who had taken my booking, my coat was taken and I was shown to my seat. When asked if I would like a drink, I asked for tea, and the questions began — how did I want it? Milk, how much sugar, how strong? The last question threw me as I hadn’t been asked that before. The tea arrived, unfortunately with too much sugar and too little milk, however, it the glass it was served in was cool. Paula, who cut my hair, came over and we started chatting about my hair and what I would like, about what Mesart is all about — all in all, incredibly welcoming and friendly. Following this, Kelly(I think that’s her name, she currently had lilac hair) gave me a head massage to get me relaxed before she went on to wash my hair. The shampoo she used smelled DIVINE, like a field full of strawberries, and real strawberries at that. Also noteworthy are the basins and chairs one sits in to get the hair washed: they are actually comfortable! The cutting went well, not too much hair was taken off and the fringe actually works. Having had«bad» experiences with this before, I can tell you that I actually manage to get my fringe to look the way I want it to at home. Even two weeks later. What is interesting is that Mesart is quite different — you receive a customer loyalty card of sorts and you can win things and such. Having only visited once, I’m not entirely sure what that’s all about. They only use TIGI Bed Head products, which I have recently become a fan of, and, maybe more importantly, they use the complete GHD range; straighteners, curlers, blow dryers — the whole range. All I can say is that I quite enjoyed the experience, and I will be coming back.
