Specialties
The Scottish Environmental Technology Network (SETN) supports the development of the Environmental and Clean Technology (ECT) sector in Scotland. SETN is funded by the Scottish Government and ERDF (European Union).
We were founded in 2006 and operated from the Contaminated Land Assessment & Remediation Research Centre (CLARRC) at The University of Edinburgh. Since November 2010, SETN has been based in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. Our core functions are:
*Connecting industry/research base
*Stimulating knowledge exchange/innovation
*Securing support for R&D including our SETN Innovation Grant
*Providing a single point of contact for the ECT sector
*Networking and events (membership is FREE)
Trials and testing is carried out in our environmental laboratories and we also offer co-ordinated access to resources and expertise across all Scottish Universities. Student projects/placements are undertaken in partnership with member companies.
History
Established in 2006.
The Contaminated Land Assessment & Remediation Research Centre (CLARRC) founded SETN in 2006 in response to the demand from Scottish environmental businesses. SETN received funding from the Scottish Government SEEKIT programme during 2006 – 2010 with additional support from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC).
During this time, SETN was based at The University of Edinburgh where CLARRC had its core offices and laboratories. The broadening of activities eventually led to CLARRC being incorporated into SETN in November 2010 at which time SETN was established as a separate unit in the Faculty of Engineering at University of Strathclyde.
