Finally i got to try this place! After reading so many 5 star reviews my expectations were pretty high, but i have to say this wee café/bakehouse did not disappoint me at all! The ambience inside is so nice and it different from any other place, i think the guys have done an amazing job! I was particularly surprised by the fact that they accept dogs inside and they give them a wee bowl of water — thumbs up! Food wise, they have an amazing selection of pastries and cakes and every single one of them looks delicious — I really struggled to choose one, but I finally went for the raspberry and pistachio one, yummy! There is also an amazing selection of breads, with vegan and gluten free options. We decided to share the spicy over baked eggs with cannellini beans, fennel pork sausages and tomato sauce — so delicious! I also had a latte and my boyfriend had a mango and cocunut smoothie. The bill came to £20 — really good value for money! I will definetely go back very soon — I have got the whole selection of cakes to try!

Ahhh the Singl-end Eggs Benedict is so good! Layers of sweet potato, red onion and spinach topped with a poached egg & avocado. I’m honestly in heaven! I had mine with a slice of nut and olive bread. It was so filling but SODELICIOUS! And the presentation? I LOVEIT! Glad I’ve got that out my system! Still as lovely as it was before and it is so nice to go somewhere and automatically receive a bottle of water for the table. It’s a really nice touch and definitely appreciated. After my disappointing cake the last time, I had the Caramel Shortcake Slice which was delicious(made with dark chocolate which I particularly liked). One of my friends had the double chocolate cake and she liked it, but felt it was a bit dry. I’m starting to think it is a shame they go to such make effort making these yummy cakes and loaves for them to sit out uncovered and become really dry. It’s a shame really. I’m not sure for cakes I’m a huge fan at all… But I loved my Eggs Benedict and I’ll definitely be trying out more items on the menu!

So, I finally tried out Singl-end! I went the other day for a little revision session, and discovered that it’s the perfect place to work away from home. It’s not too busy or noisy, and there are plenty of seats available, plus it’s airy and bright. I also love the quirky décor, with the mix of industrial and vintage. It feels really homey and welcoming! I went pretty early in the morning and decided to have breakfast. While the vegan full breakfast looked mouthwatering, I found myself drawn to the porridge, so I had almond milk porridge with seasonal fruit and maple syrup. It was lovely, and the portion size was very generous! I couldn’t finish it all. I also had a couple of almond milk cappuccinos during the four hours I was sat there, and they were probably among the best almond milk coffee drinks I’ve had. When I was about to leave, the cake table had been filled up and looked absolutely amazing. I had heard a lot of good things about their vegan cakes, so I couldn’t resist buying one to take with me. I opted for a chocolate and peanut butter brittle cake, which I enjoyed later that evening! The staff were absolutely lovely, and didn’t seem to mind at all that I was sat there for so long. So yeah, perfect place for working away from home! I’m really keen to go back and try some of their savoury food, because it looks amazing. Not only their vegan breakfast, but also their sandwiches and salads. And of course, I’d love to try more of their vegan cakes! Since I’ve only been here once I don’t feel like I can give it a 5 star review yet, but I have a feeling it’ll get that extra star quite soon… I’m pretty sure Singl-end will become one of my favourite haunts.

I have been wanting to try single-end for what feels like an age so when i had some time to kill before an appt it seemed like a good idea to pop in. I love the fact that a gluten free diet is looked on here as the norm and the lovely folks here bake their own gf bread in store. Today i chose the mushroom soup with a ham and cheese sandwitch. The soup was lovely … really thick and creamy and quite a big portion. I was a little confused by my sandwitch as it arrived like cheese on toast but it was equally delightful. There was such a huge variety of cakes to choose from that it seemed rude not to try one. I went for the peanut butter and jelly cake which was lovely but a little bit of the dry and heavier side. There was a slice of caramel slide that has my name on it for next time. Its also nice to see the vegan diets well catered for here also. Nice to see Glasgow sit up and take note of dietery requirements.

Can’t believe it took me so long to try this place. Loved it! As soon as you walk in the door, you’re met with two tables full of beautiful cakes and bread, amongst other delights. There’s a side door for disabled access or anyone bringing in prams or buggies. This place is dog friendly too. Yay! I love the space in here, such a nice place to relax and catch up with friends over really lovely food and coffee. I ordered the full vegan breakfast, which was really healthy and very filling. You get to choose which kind of bread you’d like too. The breakfast consisted of sweet potato, beans, spinach, red onion, avocado, mushroom, tomatoes and super seeded bread. Had a soya latte which was lovely too. Managed to squeeze in a lovely mango and passionfruit cake, which was beautiful. They had several vegan cake and bread options. The staff were all lovely too, can’t wait to go back!

To get a job at the Singl-end, there appears to be one prerequisite: mad eyeliner skills. Possibly two, as you’d also have to have incredible self-control in order to resist the delights on offer… I’d heard so many great things about this place, so my bestie and I decided to check it out on Saturday lunchtime. It was pleasantly busy, but we had no problems getting a(sofa!) seat and leisurely chatting through the concept, menu and comic book metal bands with the staff. Singl-end bake their own breads and cakes, which come with loads of dairy– and gluten-free options — no treatment of those with dietary requirements like an afterthought here! — and they also make most of their own ingredients too. Like the garlic pesto that adorned my open steak, tomato and mozzarella sandwich — oh my god it was SOGOOD. With a cake selection to die for, my bestie and I had one each in and one each to takeaway. Shoutout to that caramel and macadamia nut cheesecake… mmm…

Holy mother! I’ve just eaten double my body weight at Singl-end, and I have no qualms in being that overly keen gal on a first date who immediately tells all her pals: I am head over heels in love! I actually popped in here with a friend for brunch on a day trip to Glasgow. Upon getting the menu, you also get a list of the freshly baked breads to choose from to go with your meal. Now, I’m not talking about boring olé Hovis & Kingsmill, it’s all ridiculously amazing artisan combos all made in house, ranging from classic safes like Sourdough to Sweet Potato & almond combos. I ordered the latter with Eggs Benedict, which made me giddy when it arrived as its served on a tower of sweet potato, spinach and red onion jam with a gauc and hollandaise sauce on top. It was insanely good, and it’s gotta be one of the best brunches I’ve had in the UK. Plus the portion size was awesome, as much as I would have liked to order more things to try, but my body literally wouldn’t allow for it :( Having said that, they had such a great selection of baked in house cakes that we didn’t want to miss out on, so we left, walked off our full bellies, ANDCAMEBACKINFORDESSERT. Like not even 2 hours later! If that’s not going to sway you on this place you clearly have no soul. Baby bundt cakes, pb&j cake, sticky cinnamon buns, brownies and traybakes that look as taste as good as they look and are really well priced too. I love that they have veggi, vegan & gluten free options across all menus, so it’s a great place to bring your nut allergy friend or that pal who’s always on some weird new diet but misses eating nice food ;) They have Papercup coffee, a great tea selection and a list of juices to boot, lovely staff and the options of sitting on sofas or eating at a table. Nice casual atmosphere with quirky décor too. I literally have no complaints, but one piece of advice: come hungry!

Hands up I’ve been a very bad Unilocaler of late(with not enough hours in the day for my day job + businessy plans), so I was delighted to be asked by the lovely Briony to meet for a catch-up. I’ve walked past a few times and having read some great reviews I was really keen to try Singl-end. The décor inside was very homely and quirky, and I loved(like seriously I might steal the idea), the tables with postcards and stamps underneath. It wasn’t too busy when we entered but the waitress immediately came over and gave us water and the menus. Too much choice time set in although I did know I wanted winter spice tea which was really tasty. It was one of those awkward times — its not quite lunch and far too early for dinner so something sweet was called for. The cake display is pretty impressive with a good selection for veggies/gluten free etc. As usual I was pretty drawn to the caramel chocolate slice thing but it looked pretty hearty for a light snack, so I opted for some of the sweet potato bread which is more of a cake with some butter and jam. The bread was really dense yet delicious and something I’ve not seen anywhere else. The menu has a fantastic range of brunch and lunch dishes and a lot of vegan dishes so I’m keen to pay a visit again soon. I’m pretty sure they’re only open till around 6pm but it would be lovely if somewhere like this was open later and I can imagine the meals would be fantastic. Briony enjoyed her tea and cake(I think she had carrot) and hopefully I’ll get to more Unilocal events sometime soon ! x

Brunch club is always one of the highlights of my month and I think that Singl-end is my favourite so far. I loved the mismatchy, chilled out feel of the place, the staff were great, the food was amazing and the cake table was a thing of beauty. Their brunch menu is brilliant full of all the usual suspects but with a few curve balls thrown in for good measure and the specials ensured that all my careful prep was wasted and I was as horribly indecisive as usual. After some serious soul searching I ordered the mushrooms and emmental cheese on a sourdough bread for me and a kids cheese on toast for my tiny dining companion. Brilliantly they brought the huge kids portion of cheese on toast really quickly to entertain the hooligan and I was really impressed to see it served with some sticks of cucumber, carrot and cherry tomatoes. Puff was less than impressed with this and was happy for me to deal with the veggies while she focused on the cheese and carbs! My mushrooms were amazing a really generous portion and was delicious. Fantastically fresh and tasty ingredients and just writing about them is making me seriously consider how I can manage to contrive a single-end brunch tomorrow… I also had to sample a purple smoothie, anything with beetroot is tempting and whilst I was a little put out by the fact that my smoothie was most definitely red and not purple the taste more than made up for the false advertising of the colours. Of course having had to pass the cake table on our way to be seated I wasn’t going to resist the urge to sample something, for the purposes of a full and rounded review only of course! And the salted caramel brownie made the calorific overload all worthwhile. Singl-end isn’t somewhere I’ll ever just pass and decide to drop in but it is somewhere that I’ll make a point of going out of the way to get to.

Singl-end is a hidden treasure, located just behind Sauchiehall Street on Renfrew Street. Once you enter this basement coffee shop come restaurant it’s hard not to be immediately enchanted by the large bo-ho style space. I loved the cool young funky vibe here, the cool décor and the huge tables of cakes that you have to walk by as soon as you walk in. It’s a little slice of chilled out heaven on a Sunday morning and I could imagine losing the whole day here just hanging out. I had decided before I even got out of bed that I was going to have the baked spicy eggs, there was just no way I could resist this dish. Described as Eggs oven baked in a casserole of homemade pork and fennel sausage, cannellini beans, tomato and chilli served with bread. The dish was absolutely lovely. The eggs were perfectly cooked and runny once the yolk was burst(yum!) There were 3 big chunks of the fennel sausage which was gorgeously meaty, and the bean and tomato sauce was packed with tangy flavour — although I wouldn’t exactly have called it spicy. It was still an incredibly well put together dish which was probably big enough for two. My only gripe with the dish was that I had to leave my toasted sour dough because it was far too crunchy and hard for me, which I really dislike. After looking at the cakes for about 10 minutes I finally decided on a cinnamon bun. The bun was doughy but still managed to be light and was full of tasty cinnamon and packed with chopped pecans which I love… The more pecans the better I think — infact you could say I am nuts for them(oh the banter!) Including a few lattes & a smoothie my bill came to about £18 I think which I was more than happy with. The standard of the food was excellent and there was so much of it that it’s hard to find fault with the cost. Singl-end is a gorgeous hip café doing some really lovely tasty dishes which you can tell a lot of thought has gone into. Would definitely recommend this spot… I’ll be back for sure.

Jordan and I joined other elite Unilocalers for the monthly brunch club! Location: We walked here from the Maryhill area and it was not too far off of St. Georges. If we hadn’t been looking for this place with the assistance of Google maps, we probably would have walked right passed it. The building is located in a very residential area and is down the stairs, so below street level. Thank goodness they have tons of windows! Atmosphere /ambiance /décor: Walking in you instantly see a plethora of fresh baked goods and the chefs dilligently working on the line. It’s hard not to stop and look at everything they are offering for the day. Like I mentioned before, there are ample windows and both indoor and outdoor seating. Our group had reserved the back half of the restaurant and it was great! Lots of seating, places to put coats /prams, etc. There were quite a few dogs in the restaurant which is so nice to see! The décor on the walls is all authentic to Glasgow and they even sell some of it(posters, magnets, cups). I also recommend scoping out the bathrooms while you’re there. The detail and design is top notch. Those sinks are to die for! I want them in my next home! Service: Our large group seemed to be a challenge for the servers. Beverages were brought out to the wrong tables, entrees were auctioned off, and figure out which check belong to which group at the end was confusing. When we asked about the specialities of the day our server didn’t know and needed to go get a chalkboard of items and handed that to us. Not a huge deal but definitely not the best service to date. Food & Beverage: I ordered the meaty breakfast, pineapple & mango smoothies, and a glass of orange juice. I thoroughly enjoyed my selection. It was filling, everything was cooked to order, and the sweet potato almond bread was the perfect addition. The orange juice was not fresh squeeze but luckily the smoothie saved the day! The smoothie was aaaaaaaamazing probably my favorite thing we ordered. Jordan ordered«The Godfather» Sandwich. It’s this maaaaaaassive sandwich that is pre-made, sitting on display when you walk in, that they cut a piece of and serve to you with a side of veggie salad. The thing looked mouthwatering good, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. It was so large that Jordan had to cut it up into 6 pieces to even get it to fit in his mouth. Next, the meat to toppings ratio was way off aka not enough meat compared to everything else. It was quite dry and the more that Jordan thought about it, the more it grossed him out that it had just been sitting there on display. He said that only good thing about it was the grilled mozzarella. The veggie salad was an odd assortment of veggies(carrots, corn, zucchini, tomatoes, etc) all mixed together, served room temperature with a housemade seasoning on it. The vegetables didn’t compliment each other very well and it was average at best. Before heading out we got takeaway baked goods — carrot cake, orange chocolate mini cake, and a lemon & thyme cookie. All of these items were fabulous! Prices: It’s not a cheap place. My meaty breakfast, orange juice, smoothie, Jordan’s sandwich, and a latte, along with our three takeaway desserts was £32. That seems like quite a bit for breakfast /brunch. Overall I enjoyed it but Jordan’s experience was dismal. We hope to go back again so he can try something new and hopefully reedem the experience for him!

My boyfriend and I were saying recently how we just wanted to go somewhere and get a decent sandwich that’s not too far from the city centre. After hearing about Singl-end, we decided to go one day for brunch. The entrance is down a set of steps but it’s well signed. Before I stepped in, my eyes lit up at the table of cakes I could see through the window. Inside, the décor is quite cool. We sat at a picnic style table that had old stamps and hymn verses on it. As soon as we were in, a waitress was ready to show us to a seat which I liked because I hate that awkward standing around when everyone’s busy. The service was super friendly and I never felt rushed at all. I went for scrambled eggs on rosemary focaccia and my boyfriend went for the steak sandwich with soda bread. I love bread and so a place where we can choose a variety, is a winner in my eyes. Although what I had looked quite small, it filled me up and I then had a salted caramel brownie(recommended by the waitress). Outside, they have a little seating area which would be nice to sit out on a sunny day. Service was fab, food was yummy, they serve lovely cakes and they do proper sandwiches — win win!

Been trying to try Singl-End for AGES so where better for my first post-baby review! Getting out the door early bells with a newborn is hard enough but when most places stop breakfast at 11/11.30, my favourite meal of the day has been somewhat lacking! Thank god Singl-End do breakfast all day! Off the beaten track, a Singl-End is a little hidden gem in Garnethill. Inside is eclectic and a kind of warehousey looking with corrogated steel décor and plain stonewashed floors. They have lovely tables with different stamps etc under the glass and with the checkered tablecloth on the table FULL of cakes and homemade bread it kinda reminds me of somewhere on holiday ! I went for the Veggie breakfast & added bacon, my body is craving veggies for some reason! The homemade beans were delicious, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the accompanying sweet potatoes, spinach and onion all just made such a delicious plate which I totally devoured. I scooped everything up with the gorgeous homemade sourdough and generous portion of salty butter. Washed down with a really well made latte it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a really long time. Martyn had the Spicy baked eggs which were the same homemade beans I had in my breakfast with homemade fennel sausage and eggs on top with more of that chewy sourdough. I thought they were really tasty but the fennel in the sausage was quite strong and overpowering. We took home a couple of Gluten free cakes — Peanut butter and Jelly and a Jaffa cake both of which were delicious and I couldn’t believe they were GF! It is quite pricy in here but I think it’s worth it for the quality of food and it’s stuff you just can’t get anywhere else. I’ve already planned my next trip! A must try!

Brunch! Is it the best meal of the day? I’m going to say yes, yes it is. There isn’t many meals I love more than brunch and I am always excited about trying somewhere new for brunch when Brunch Club comes around. I was glad that Singl-end were able to take a booking for our large group(I did need to leave a £5pp deposit on card which they gave back to me in cash on the day) and I thought they handled a large group really well. There’s always a bit of back-and-forth with drinks/food orders but all the staff looking after our table were really friendly, calm and competent which was great! The brunch menu is all kinds of amazing. I was struggling to decide and that’s before I looked at the specials board. I stuck with the usual brunch menu and got the veggie breakfast with avocado. The veggie breakfast comes with eggs your way(poached, obviously), roast sweet potato, mushroom, roasted cherry tomatoes, home-baked beans and spinach, and a slice of toasted bread from the bread menu. Yes, BREADMENU. This place has a bread menu. And don’t stress if you’re gluten free as they have tonnes of options for you. Yesterday’s selection included brown Hovis, sourdough, seeded, nut-olive, rosemary focaccia, sweet potato and almond, banana pecan and scones. Woah. What a whopper bread menu. I had sweet potato and almond. So how was the food? Well, the fact I managed to steal two of Graeme’s eggs meant I had a full-to-bursting plate of veggies with 4 eggs and the sweet potato almond bread, but I was up for the challenge. Of all the veggie breakfasts I’ve had in my years, I think this was my favourite purely because it was so VEGGIE. Everything was cooked perfectly and I loved the roast sweet potato for something different. Even the beans were good, and I hate beans. The avocado was amazing and had chili through it, I was so glad I got it as extra. I have to agree with Gordon who said the sweet potato bread was probably a little too sweet for a breakfast food but I still really liked it. I also decided to try a smoothie even though I know milk/milk-type things can make me feel sick. Their smoothies are made with coconut milk and I actually didn’t feel sick from it, so that was a win. I had the green smoothie with apple, avocado, cucumber, spinach, mint, lime and coconut milk. I liked how it was presented in a Jeremiah Weed jar and for £4 not bad value as it was really large. I’d definitely have one again and apparently the added option of oats is totally worth it. We got some cakes to take away(yeh, I know, I’d eaten a LOT already) and loved the passionfruit vegan one. The cake table is epic and there was a lot of Unilocalers drooling near it(not on it) during the brunch. I loved Singl-end. This place is great. So great in fact that I’m going back today for lunch. Notes: the rest of the place was medium-busy on a Sunday so I reckon you could easily rock up and get a table without too much stress.

My very first Brunch Club and my first visit to Singl-end. I’d never ventured up this part of town before, you could pass it so easily and never be any the wiser. It is bigger than I expected with an eclectic décor. It made me instantly feel at home, this was my kinda place. The staff were polite, helpful and very friendly. I went for the spicy cauliflower soup and Welsh rarebit with leeks on sourdough bread. The original dish had ham, and they were happy to exclude it for my order. I was starving before I got to Singl-end and left completely full. I couldn’t even manage a cake(I did get one to take away though). Looking at the menu, there wasn’t a dish that jumped out at me as something I needed to have right now or would go back time and again for. There was a wide variety of dishes and I’m sure I’d be able to find something to eat whenever I visit again. I took a Jaffa Cake cake home with me and shared it with the hubby. Devine. Moist, flavoursome and left me wishing I’d never shared.

I love Unilocal Sunday brunches: D it’s great to discover places like this! This was a difficult star rating to decide on. Based on my choice of food I’d have given them 2 but the overall experience and other people’s food choices leads me to a higher star rating. I love this space. I dig open plan, exposed floors, rustic mix and match styles. Their outdoor seating area is just adorable but either they are in the worst place for catching sun or March sun just wasn’t strong enough. They have little nooks with quirky seating and pictures. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful and I can’t fault them in the slightest. However…their Chai latte was very disappointing. They serve a pot of chai tea {tea bag} and a glass of steamed milk. It didn’t go down to well that’s for sure. It just didn’t get strong enough to over power the milk. The smoothies however! Delicious :) I had the Yellow which was a perfect blend of sweet yet natural and healthy tasting. I ordered from the Specials menu for my brunch. They offered a black pudding, bacon, poached egg and apple on bread. I swapped out the black pudding for extra bacon, which was really tasty. But overall I feel really ripped off. It cost £8 and only came with 1 egg, 4 strips of bacon, 1 slice of bread and a couple of slices of Apple. Meh. I was still hungry and it just wasn’t that great. The egg was bland and the bread unmemorable. For dessert I picked the millionaires caramel short bread. I keep getting caught out by these at the moment. A new trend has developed of swapping chocolate topping for gnash which honestly just makes it too sickly. The base was a bit too hard too. I usually like it quite firm but I need to be able to get my fork into it! They do have amazing dog treats: D my dog seemed to enjoy them very much! I want to go back and try something else as I love their style and atmosphere, so we shall see.

Here for brunch club — because brunch is the best meal of any day — and I was intrigued to get to Singl-end. Having read the reviews I was looking forward to this a lot! First impressions, it’s a lot bigger inside than you think, and it’s laid out and decorated in a shabby chic kinda way which is nice if not that original. We had a couple of tables booked — there were 20 people at this brunch club — and hats off to the staff who never kept us waiting and got all the orders to us in good time! I ordered the Singl-End Eggs Benedict — which, as Debs pointed out, wasn’t actually ‘Benedict’ as there wasn’t any ham — Poached egg on slices of roast sweet potato with spinach and red onion topped with cashew and tarragon hollandaise sauce, I choose a sweet potato and almond bread to go with it. I’d had a couple of cappuccinos before my food arrived, the coffee is good but nothing special, and when my food arrived it looked great. Presentation across most of the plates looked good, rather than the ‘throw it on the plate’ approach that some places take with a brunch. The eggs were a little overcooked for my liking, but overall the dish was nice. However without the ham it was all just a little bland and overly sweet. The ‘hollandaise’(which wasn’t hollandaise) had a sweet aftertaste which, when you added the sweet potato and fried red onion, just made the dish unbalanced. By the end, whilst I ate everything, it was obvious that it needed something with a bit more punch, a bit more savoury/saltiness I think to balance out everything else which was all very similar in taste and texture, even the addition of some crispy bacon would’ve made this much better! Add in the slice of bread, which was more like a cake loaf, and I was underwhelmed. It’s clear the skills are there, I just think the dish itself needs rethought. Undeterred by the barrage of sweetness, I also had a slice of caramel shortcake which was heavy on the chocolate and caramel, with the solid base the saving grace I think. So perhaps it was my choice of dish — although I don’t like fennel, so the sausages weren’t an option — but I’m not sure I’d hurry back.

I teeter here again at 4 and a half: the staff are always pleasant and helpful, vegan cake selection is great, they offer two types of non-dairy milk(soya and almond), and do have marked vegan savoury options, but there is still a bit of awkwardness having to ask for adaptations and last time I had an open sandwich which didn’t seem much for the price. For vegans I would definitely recommend for coffee & a cake, or soup and bread, but would be less likely to go for a meal. They had two salads and I had to ask which were vegan(one was), the cake I asked for initially they didn’t have as the table menus hadn’t been updated, and I had to ask for the crème freche(not mentioned on the menu) that arrived with the sweet potato chips to be swapped for a non-dairy sauce. None of these things were a big deal and staff were very accommodating, I think the menu design made it a bit more difficult to decide what to have as well. Neither of the soups were marked as veggie or vegan, and the polenta sweet potato chips could easily be vegan but weren’t marked so because of the dip. It was an enjoyable brunch — out with other Unilocalers as part of brunch club — and for the service and cakes I’m happy to bump up to 5, but would prefer to have an easier to read menu.

I love Singl-end. I’ve loved it ever since it was an Italian restaurant, and I still love it now, especially since it’s transformed into a homey bakehouse with tons of choices for cakes! Yay! I went over for brunch with Gian yesterday. As we walked in, we were greeted with grand tables of cakes and fresh bread. OHGALORE! Can you feel my excitement? I’m ecstatic while typing out this review and reminiscing briefly on my beautiful meal. Anyway, we were seated in the cozy corner at the back, and were given the menus. They’ve got a really appetizing range of food! All ranging from 7−11GBP, so it’s not gonna break the bank for ya! We ordered from the list of cooked breakfasts; a veggie breakfast(with a side of bacon teehee) for me and a vegan one for Gian. Both were 8GBP(but mine was a lil extra cause of my bacon which was SUPER crunchy and I have no regrets)! Safe to say that we had a delicious and fulfilling first meal of the day! How I wish I could eat like a champion all day err’day! Nice thing is that they serve most of their dishes with fresh bread baked by them! And they have like 6 – 7 different choices, from olive and nut, to garlic rosemary foccacia, to brown wheat! So many to try! :D We also had 2 cakes(3GBP each) and coffees(which I think were more or less 2GBP each). I had the double chocolate cake which, just like it sounds, was AMAZING. It was not too sweet and was sooo … sooo … RICH. I loved it! Was over the moon filled with joy! Gian had the maple, apple and ginger cake which he really liked as well! He said the icing/glaze was super light and refreshing(possibly coconuty). And for you vegans/gluten free dieters, this bakehouse has quite a bit of variety when it comes to their baked goods that are best suited for your lifestyle! I mean, vegan cakes? This won’t make me feel guilty about my love for cakes ehehehehe I’d like to also add that they have a super rad coffee machine that looks like something from a steampunk movie! We HAD to have a cuppa then! Was a pretty pleasant cup for me. :) Gian’s soy cappuccino was made well too! No lumps or bumps! There’s ample of space in the bakehouse too! Like really A LOT of room. So if you’re the type to work on your laptop but like to change up your«office», you could try popping into Singl-end! They have a nice comfy nook with sofas and warm lighting, perfect for cold rainy days! They also have wifi! And they’re doggy friendly! Lastly, staff are amazing. Friendly and quick. Really nothing to complain here! I’m pretty sure you can tell how much love there is in this post for Singl-end. I adore this place so much and am excited to continue visiting and trying all their dishes and cake creations! :)

I was so glad to hear that Singl-end were reopening as I’d heard lots of good things about it. My first visit couldn’t have been better. Escaping from a cold January day I found the place really cosy, full of character and serving up outstanding food. It’s a large restaurant but it’s been divided up in such a way that it feels snug and homey. There’s a dining area then other sections with huge leather chairs and sofas to relax on while you have coffee and cake. They had lots of great options on the menu with soups, sandwiches and main courses as well as cooked breakfasts. Vegans and vegetarians are well catered for as well as people who want to avoid gluten or opt for something healthy. I was looking for something hearty and comforting though! I couldn’t choose between the haddock and leek omelette and the steak sandwich so I opted for the«meaty» cooked breakfast. And wow, I think it’s the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly done scrambled eggs with chives, homemade baked beans, lots of smoked bacon, homemade sausages with chili and fennel plus a giant mushroom with tasty cherry tomatoes. They also have a table of baked goods with brownies, cupcakes, scones and other delights. I chose a Jaffa cake, an orange sponge with dark chocolate covering. I had this to takeaway and handily they have little boxes for the cakes. It was really good, the sponge was moist and had an amazing strong orange flavour and the chocolate icing was delicious. Basically I can’t wait to go back for a second visit!
