The Bead Company

Not the sort of place I normally frequent, but Herself is quite into a bit of jewellery making so I’ve been in here a couple of times and have been astounded by the assortment and variety of beads, bijoux and general glittery things in here.
They’ve also got the tools and other accessories that you need to get you going, many of which caught my eye as handy wee craft items to have, sending my brain into overdrive thinking up myriad ways I could employ some of them!
They run frequent courses on how to make various jewellery items, and there’s a selection of ready-​made stuff to buy as well if you’re feeling particularly lazy.
A great wee shop, definitely worth a look if you fancy exercising your craft skills or just want some inspiration for an art project.

On walking into this shop you may think that you have walked straight into a giant rainbow as they have sparkly beads of all shapes and sizes and colours. I could spend hours in here marvelling at all the wares.
If you’re looking to do something creative then why not turn your hand to making some pretty beaded jewellery? Great for yourself and very special for a personalised present for loved ones.
They stock various types of beads here; murano glass, semi-​precious stones, gemstones, Swarovski crystal, they have the lot so you will be spoilt for choice. You can also get wire, tools and even instruction manuals in here to ensure that on leaving the shop you will be fully armed with all the bead making material you would ever need.
Great shop, beautiful stock and very friendly and informative staff.

After idly checking out the posters on the subway for a couple of weeks, I finally made the (very short) trip to The Bead Company. And, my friends, I can now assure you that it is AMAZING.
The shop is actually huge and much classier looking that I expected. As well as the general boxes of beads for you to peruse, you’ll also find a huge selection of ready-​made bead necklaces. Also worth noting are the lovely collections of pre-​made jewellery — crafted by local artists and all for sale.
The selection of beads available is second to none, and you’ll also find jewellery making magazines as well as all the connected paraphernalia such as chains, clips and threads etc.
Up on the second floor you will find a number of large tables where you can sit and craft your beads once you’ve made your selection. This makes The Bead Company a lovely way to spend a couple of hours — even better if you’ve brought a couple of friends along with you!
The lady behind the counter was really friendly and helpful and found me exactly what I was looking for (I wanted a torque style necklace to put a pendant that I already had on it). It’s also very affordable, with beads ranging from not-​very-​much-​at-​all to fully fledged solid Swarvorski Crystal beads.
All in all, The Bead Company is one of my new favourite places. Look out for me there from now on…

Looking for a place where you can subtly dump your other «craft loving» half to get there fix of all things «not made, make it yourself, but why is it so expensive if i’m making it for myself», while you sprint towards the nearest alcohol dispensing establishment to indulge your «its not a problem its heritage» love of all things beery? Well my good friend an fellow closet alcoholic this is the place for you!
A rather upmarket craft shop with a grand interior and kick ass selection of, well, beads and shit, this place is the bee (d’s) knees. I for one will be keeping this place in mind the next time i need a convenient distraction for the Magpie in my life (look at the shiny shiny).

Ahh yes, my jewellery-​making phase! It looks like so much fun, making jewellery, but it does take a lot of time, especially if you’re me. I found this shop through Google, to see if there was anywhere local I could get my fix.
The Bead Company is so much bigger and sleeker than expected — I had envisioned a cramped, crooked little shop. I work with ¹¹⁄₀ seed beads, of which they had plenty. The staff seemed very enthusiastic and interested, and when they found out I was a beginner, they suggested I attend one of their classes.
As it turns out, my jewellery-​making hasn’t really taken off, what with uni work and life in general, but it’s something I’d really like to go back to. The Bead Company really seems like Glasgow’s bead Mecca.

Fantastic friendly and inspiring place, walls of beads of all kinds. It’s refreshing to have something like this in our town.

This is a fantastic shop and I would highly recommend to anyone to have a go at making your own jewellery. Not only is it inexpensive (particularly when compared to shop bought items), but it is a relaxing way to spend some time. The staff are also friendly and willing to help with ideas and the techniques involved with the bead-​making. I will definitely be going back!

I can’t say enough great things about this shop. The owners and staff are friendly and extremely helpful. I needed a glass cabochon wire wrapped in a hurry and they were able to accomodate me so I can wear it to my night out tonight. They have a great selection of beads, tools, findings & wire, as well as a selection of jewellery that is already made up. They also offer a stringing service so if you don’t want to do it yourself you can pick out your beads and let them do it for you for a small fee. I know I’m going to be spending a lot of time here!
