Description

Specialties

The Hidden Lane Tearoom is found tucked in a sunny corner of the Hidden Lane, officially known as Argyle Court. Nestled amongst multi coloured and higgledy piggledy studios, home to crafts people, musicians and small business folk, the Tearoom has become a hub for this creative community.

Off the beaten track, you’d easily miss us, but the location has become part of the charm, a real hidden gem! We offer a varied menu from pancakes for breakfast, home-made soups, stews and platters for lunch, to our luxurious afternoon tea, voted second best in the country in Peter Irvine’s highly acclaimed ‘Scotland the best.’ We also offer a lovely range of home-made cakes and bakes all day, including our classic Victoria sponge, giant meringues and our secret recipe scones.

As a tearoom, we like to emphasise the tea, not just what we serve but how we serve it, we have a range of over 30 loose leaf teas to choose from, and we serve them, all properly! Enjoy your tipple from vintage teapots and beautiful cups and saucers, and nothing matches, so there’s more to admire!

Spread over 2 floors we have space available for private functions, from sophisticated tea parties to business lunches to art exhibitions, our flexible space means we can cater for a great range of private events, head over to the website for more information.

History

Established in 2009.

The Hidden Lane Tearoom was started by Kirsty Fitzgerald back in 2009 and soon became known as a hidden gem. The Tearoom was featured in Peter Irvine’s highly acclaimed ‘Scotland the best’ and on Alan Cumming’s ‘Urban Secrets’.

When Kirsty decided she wanted to move on to a new challenge she passed the torch to me, another Kirsty.

I have been running the Tearoom since September 2014 and have been enjoying the challenges of running my own business and getting to bake every day!

Business Owner

Having always loved baking I was so excited to get the opportunity to take over this lovely Tearoom in September 2014. I left my career as a Midwife to be at the Tearoom full-time and immerse myself in all aspects of the business, and I haven’t regretted a moment.
