Mackey’s

I’m not sure what came over me. Perhaps, it was the demise of fried chicken takeaway Roosters in Sutton which set me off but I had a sudden urge for fried chicken tonight while driving home from work
I’d noticed that the takeaway close to home had recently changed management and convenience won out over quality control (can I still claim jetlag as an excuse?)
It was fortunate that I knew what I had come for. Mackey’s seems to be offering a bit of everything — pizzas, kebabs, burgers, fried chicken. This choice is a good idea except the workers seemed to be snowed under trying to prepare too many different types of dishes — they were struggling a bit from the size of the queue
Fortunately, the fried chicken was ready prepared and sitting in the warmer, waiting to be purchased. I walked out with a thigh, my favourite cut as it’s usually succulent and juicy with a decent amount of meat. It was a decent fried chicken in the style of KFC with a crispy crust and skin
Not bad at all for a takeaway
