We teach traditional shotokan karate. Harpenden JKA is affiliated to JKA England which is the representative body in England of the world renowned Japan Karate Association.

The instructor is Sensei Simon Marchant-​Jones, 3^rd dan, who is a Level 2 JKA Instructor.

Beginners are always welcome to join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 7 pm. Wear loose fitting track suit bottoms and t shirt.

Classes for experienced karateka are 7 – 8.30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays 10 – 11 am. If you are not a JKA member, you can still train with us but after a few visits we would require you to become a member of the JKA.

History

Established in 2007.

Sensei Simon started karate at Leeds University many years ago. In the early 80s he took a break for family and career, and returned to training in 1999. He gained the black belt in 2003, second dan in 2006, and third dan in 2011.

Sensei Simon started Harpenden JKA Karate Club in 2007.
