As my boyfriend is of the barista orientation, I can sometimes be subjected to being dragged around coffee shops and pretending like I know what he’s talking about, when he’s describing the extraction levels, and other such coffee-nerd lingo. This was one of our first stops in Harrogate, and I’m so glad! You don’t have to be a coffee expert to appreciate the coffees here. They are really great. The staff were very friendly and alongside great customer service, the atmosphere in the brew bar was so relaxing. No pretentious feeling or snobby looks(except from the boyfriend) when I asked for advice on a coffee to choose.(I had a climpson and sons Colombian bean by the way, and it was really smooth with chocolatey notes). We were lucky enough to sit right in the window seat, and the décor of the place makes it feel cosy in a edgy-hipster way. The only thing that I’m not a fan of, and it’s purely personal preference is the name. Why they had to seek inspiration from London(the interior is also dotted with London buses and tube maps), I have no idea? Harrogate is such a beautiful place, and I personally think they should have embraced their own identity more and been proud of their Harrogate routes! But like I said, just my opinion.

I was seeking refuge whilst my partner was at a convention nearby, and the lovely people of Hoxtons welcomed me in. I was offered the private snug and given the free wifi code so I could watch the F1 in peace. The tea is delicious loose-leaf(as proper tea should be!) and the coffee was rich and wonderful(I recommend the flat white). The only food they have is cakes and pastries, which isn’t bad but I would have liked if they served sandwiches as well. The slice of lemon drizzle cake I had was delicious and comes highly recommended! As I was staying a while the friendly and helpful staff opened a tab for me, which made it easier for me to keep enjoying their delicious drinks whilst watching the race without the hassle of paying each time. The bill was settled easily and overall has made my visit to Harrogate very enjoyable. Now for the long drive home! Thanks guys

I had been wanting to visit Hoxton North since we arrived in Harrogate to sample their famous coffee, having read all the positive reviews. I was not disappointed, so much so I visited twice in one morning. On wandering in for the first time I was greeted immediately with a warm smile and staff who clearly know how to treat customers well. The whole bar has a very professional contemporary feel, with the drinks displayed on a board as you enter, and the cakes and pastries, baked fresh everyday tempting you on the counter. On both occasions I had an americano, that came served on a board, with milk on the side in a small milk bottle, very similar to the bottles of milk I used to get at primary school, a nice touch. The americano was flavoursome and strong, a coffee that didn’t disappoint, as was my wife’s cappuccino, which was equally good, both were a Rwandan blend of coffee. Unable to resist the cakes on my second visit, we shared a raspberry and almond brioche; wonderfully fresh and so tasty! Hoxton North is a great place to drink really good coffee, and let the stresses of the world melt away; I wish we didn’t live so far away!
