This pub is a great choice for lunch as they have a great specials menu. You have to order at the bar. They seem to run out of things on the menu quite often

Good boozer, tasty food. Good looking barmaids (and it has a dart board!!!) What more do you want?! BTW Keith Moon killed his mate outside here. True. A fact.

A lovely cosy setting– shame that I had such an awful experience there!
I telephoned the pub ahead of time to enquire about whether it was possible to prepare a dish without cheese because I was a vegan. I was informed that this was not a problem so I went to the restaurant with my family, expecting a tasty meal.
When we ordered the food, we asked for the dish to be made without cheese and was told that this was fine.
When the food arrived, it looked as though it contained cheese so I politely asked the server to double-​check. The server returned promptly and informed me that the dish did not contain cheese.
After a few minutes, the server returned and told me that they could not be sure that the dish did not contain cheese and that I should prod the food in order to find out. I found that the dish seemed to contain cheese and was very disappointed. The server went away and spoke to the chef and then returned to explain that the topping of cheese was removed but the dish still contained cheese (it had been bought in not prepared by the chef). I asked for an alternative meal and was provided with a plate of steamed vegetables!
Not impressed– do not go here if you have special dietary requirements!

The Pub is large, has a nice atmosphere and serves a selection of Real Ales, Lagers, Wines, Spirits etc.
There is a quiz machine and plent of tables outside which is great in the Summer.
The Sunday Carvery stands out, which is good value for money and very tasty. Some of the regular food on the menu can be hit or miss, nevertheless overall the best pub in Hatfield.

Probably the nicest pub in Hatfield. Does a great carvery on a Sunday — food is lovely and fairly priced. Would recommed!

The red lion pub is probably the best Hatfield pub to visit if you want somewhere which is quite large and friendly. It has a large patio area outside with covered tables and heaters for people who want to smoke or just enjoy the outside.
It is situated on a fairly busy road leading up to the train station but the patio is far enough from the road for this not to be a problem. It was recently refurbished so is clean and fresh inside.
They do serve food which is good in price and quality and the drinks are reasonable. This seems to be the pub of choice for many people who want a pub lunch during their lunch break or after work drinks.
An overall nice place.
