I visited the Sausage Tree for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It’s somewhere that I’d heard several good reports of, but never got round to visiting. It’s a bit of a nightmare to find initially as it’s tucked down a side road off the main London Road, just on the outskirts of the town centre. You also definitely need to book, and fairly far in advnace aswell, especially if you want a table of an evening at the weekend. However it’s well worth it. Food is excellent, if a little expensive and the atmosphere is great. It’s set-up and décor is much more like a pub than a restaurant, but I think that helped to create a nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommend, just plan ahead and book!

Well thanks to these two reviews I’ve found The Sausage Tree and I’m sure I’ll be returning. Can’t quite work out why they don’t publicise it a bit more, it looks like a bit of an oasis in Wycombe! I had the Chilli Beer last night — delicious — and had to have a take-out of the Kasteel Brune(Belgian beer). I’m looking forward to visiting without a car and tasting some of the interesting sausages — zebra, crocodile. Perhaps just a touch expensive for the area — hence 4 rather than 5 stars.

Opened in July 2007, The Sausage tree is a little something different for High Wycombe. It boasts a great range of Belgium and antipodean beer bottled and on draught and also some very well priced wine from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Of course, it does sausages(50 different sorts) served on mash with beans and gravy — big servings and great on a winters day. The black rock grills are popular and yummy, where your choice of meat comes out cooking on a very hot rock with salad and wedges. Try the exotic meats from Africa and Australia! Very rugby orientated, don’t ask for the football to be on! Friendly service orientated staff, most from the southern hemisphere.

I love the sausage tree! The sausage tree serves, strangely enough, sausages. But not just any sausages– hundreds of sausages! This gem is tucked away discreetly on Saffron Street in High Wycombe, but it’s well worth checking out either with friends or family. It’s like a traditional pub but has a bit of an Australian twist with the rugby on the telly and kangaroo, ostrich and sprinbok sausages! If you are a vegetarian however there are alternatives and they all serve delicious pies. All reasonably priced with superb service.
