Terminal 3 at Gate D First, they lied, somewhat. There’s a sign saying what currency they use. Which in the logo includes the Euro. I go up to one of the 3 – 5 staff standing there at the check out doing nothing really to pay but they said use the automated check out kiosk but it doesn’t except Euros. I had no pounds because I am only here for a connecting flight. And not going to convert Dollars or Euros just to buy a sandwich, snacks and a drink. Anyway, I payed with a Debit card due to currency issues for there Meal Deal. Their Meal Deal is pretty reasonable considering next door at Eat. or a walk down to Pret A Manager. WH Smith offers a choice of(1) sandwich /wrap: such as Turkey and Bacon, BLT, etc… basically minced meat or veggie in a sandwich… I got the Ham Hock sandwich…(2) add a drink(a good selection including Coca Cola + Vitamin Water) and(3) choose a snack: chips, etc… I got a pack of 3REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups. All for about 5 Pounds. The store itself sells accessories, side items, snacks, magazines, Nick nacks, candy, etc… The staff I spoke with was pretty helpful especially when the kiosk ran out of receipt paper and when I asked how I would pay with Euros, he told me I couldn’t. The sandwich wasn’t really good. Though, I didn’t expect much for a mince meat sandwich but I wanted a quick bite before moving on.

Books. Water. Overpriced snacks and sweets. Magazines. Souvenirs. WHSmith in Heathrow’s terminal 3 isn’t anything to write home about, but it serves as a good place to spend your last pounds and buy things to occupy you during your flight. For snacks and beverages, I prefer the Boots that the terminal also offers(less expensive and equal variety).

Just as bad as last time at T1. Honestly the line for security was faster than this. 12 tills, only 3 of them staffed, one with a customer complaining trying to get a refund for ages(judging by the 6 minutes I stood in the queue just to buy a newspaper, listening to the whole ordeal), so in effect only 2 tills working. Still doing the ‘can I see your boarding pass’ routine also.

I’m writing this review at Singapore Changi Airport as I wait to board my connecting flight. Yup, free internet terminal. What a contrast to the pit which is Heathrow T3! This shop is full of over-priced goods aimed at a captive audience. Poor show! There are building works everywhere. Perhaps a phoenix will rise from the ashes but I’m not holding my breath.

I heard of rip-off prices at motorway service stations but honestly… Terry’s Chocolate Oranges cost me £3.99 each there at the WHS at Heathrow’s Terminal 3. I even asked the counter clerk how come they are so expensive and she mused that Americans like to buy them back home. And these are £2.02 at Tescos or 50p cheap on sale where they can be found. So avoid paying for these ridiculous prices at extortionate places at the airports!
