Certainly not what you would call a luxurious night out, but still a pleasant enough experience.
The atmosphere is friendly and the food is easy on the eye and the palate.
More a 3.5 than a 4.

Only given it 4 stars but that is purely down to the fact that it is small & cramped. You can’t fault the choices available on the menu or the staff as both are superb. We have been there many times & no reason to complain at all. Food is always nicely presented & decent portion sizes too

This is a really nice bistro located on Chanterlands Avenue in Hull.
There is a wide range to choose from and reasonably priced with half price pasta dishes during the week until 7pm.
The staff are friendly and helpful, although the resturant is a little small — i do believe that they are expanding the premses upstairs.
Food, as you can guess from the name, is italian, and no request is too big.
Very friendly and welcoming place to eat.

We went to Ciao Bistro last week for a night out. The menu was amazing, the choice of food outstanding= Starters, pizzas, pastas, stroganoffs, fish, and steaks. I started with a Moules Blanco it was greatly presented and tasted as good as it looked. Then had a Calzone for main course. This is not a meal for the small eater. It was huge and packed full. It was a struggle to finish it but it tasted so nice it would have been a crime to leave any of it (well thats my excuse and i am sticking to it ha ha). The service was also great. The owner was always around and chatty and they seemed happy to server you.

from the outside ciao bistro looks like a small café. but inside is a wonderful italian restaurant with an upstairs making it look alot bigger than it is! not cheap but not super expensive as well. the food is absolutley gorgeous and the owner will introduce himself personally giving you his reccomendations. and you can take your own booze for no extra charge which is a big bonus!

Fantastic Italian food with a good choice for vegetarians. Mid price food, good service and you can take your own wine. Had a great family night out there and they were very good with the small children.

Well this place won the Hull Daily Mail’s Continental Café of the year.
I however don’t know how the hell it did. I had Fungi Rapini and my daughter had prawns in a sauce, I am sure had mushrooms and pâté been fresh and homemade then it would have been very nice unfortunately I suspect these are bought in.
The prawns however were better and my daughter enjoyed them, although the cloth lettuce as a garnish was more suited to the bin.
The Fillet steak I had was very nice as was the Halibut chosen by my daughter, the vegetables where adequate but after having to send the bottle of red wine back (they had tried warming it under a hot tap).
I was not overall impressed, combined with the condiment set having residues of previous dinners on the outside and a feeling that it wasn’t the cleanest of places I have decided to give this one a miss next time.
Others may like this place however you make your own judgement.
