A fun cruise around Loch Ness, a quick little hike around Urquhart Castle, and a visit to a humble little museum about «Nessie, The Monster».
Charming and exactly what we wanted. Alan, the driver, was charming and had great whiskey advice.

I was really excited to find out that we were going on a cruise on Loch Ness. Our Contiki tour included this as one of our included excursions so it was already part of our package. The cruise started at 10 am which was a bit early for us but we definitely beat the rush. We boarded the Jacobite Warrior. It was overcast but the water was calm. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery which included views of Urquhart Castle and the surrounding Highlands. There was a prerecorded audio tour coming from the speakers inside the covered cabin. If you don’t want to be out in the cold wind, the covered cabin is heated with plenty of comfortable seating. They also had a cool menu of snacks and drinks on board. Prices vary depending on time on the water but it’s worth it if you’re already visiting in the area. Call ahead for group rates or book online.

On a quick first trip to the highlands, I decided to try a Jacobite tour. I’m not usually one for name tags and big groups with strict itineraries but in this case I was without a car and desperate to get out of the city. For 25 pounds we got a great tour guide bursting with local history and knowledge, a nice cruise up Loch Ness and an hour to roam around Urquhart Castle with a nice country ride back to town. In all it took just over 3 hours and we really enjoyed ourselves. I recommend this tour group, and our tour which was temptation, to other first time visitors!

I took the freedom tour which was an hour cruise and an hour wandering about the Urquhart Castle. The cruise had an audio playback which talked about Loch Ness, the monster that supposedly haunts the lake, the castle, a big of Scottish history and local legends and stories. Their staff were all bubbly, courteous, ready to help and very pleasant. The one hour that was allowed on to the castle ground was enough, not too rushed but we didn’t need to wait in boredom until the boat comes round again. I would definitely recommend them!

Wonderful & relaxing cruise along Loch Ness — if you’re looking for a nice, enjoyable morning along the Loch, look no further
Planned a relaxing voyage along the black & mysterious Loch Ness for my parents who love these things & we all had an enjoyable time! Our package included a stop at Urquhart Castle & while it was nice, we’d have been just as pleased had we only done the boat ride
They aren’t even kidding when they talk about how black the water in the Loch is… it comes from the high peet content in the water… but it also adds an air of mystery
No Nessie sightings while we were out but we did see lovely estate homes including the huge greenhouse that provided fresh strawberries to the area
Cute little guy bicycled all along the shore w/​our boat & kept perfect time — seemed to be his regular daily routine… very sweet!

I was very happy with the recent cruise i took with Jacobite to see Loch Ness. The boats do end up rather packed though. Another slight negative to the cruise is that most of it is spent slowly moving along the Caledonian Canal, while still cruising i was hoping for a bit more time on the loch and maybe 1 or 2 more knots.
Nice options of trips though, and good options on where they drop you off at the end, all for a reasonable price.

A boat cruise on the Lochness river to find Nessie and tour a castle afterwards? Great great great entertainment. Lots of choices to choose from depending on how much time you have during the day! Rain’s alot so don’t forget your umbrella!

Wir haben die Freedom Tour gebucht, was bedeutet:
Wenn man nicht in Inverness startet, sondern etwas weiter unten am Loch Ness (Clansman Hotel) startet fährt man eine halbe Stunde lang auf dem See zum Urquart Castle und kann sich dort eine Stunde lang die Schlossruine und das Besuchercenter anschauen und wird wieder zurückgebracht.
Optional kann man sich auch von Inverness aus mit dem Bus runterfahren lassen oder von dort aus mit dem Boot zu einer dreistündigen Tour starten, die allerdings den Besuch von Urquart Castle nicht beinhaltet.
die Freedom Tour kostet 17 GBP, wovon allein schon 7 Pfund auf Urquart Castle entfallen. Insgesamt eine schöné Möglichkeit den Besuch von Loch Ness und Urquart Castle zu kombinieren, wo eine Besuchszeit von einer Stunde wirklich mehr als ausreichend ist…

For any of you who are heading to Scotland and will be making the trek up to Inverness, consider signing up for one of these day cruises. Jacobite offers several different touring packages that vary in length and type of transportation (want to take a boat? a motor coach? both? guess what — you can!)
We took the «Sensation» tour; it was a 3-​hour boat cruise up Loch Ness with a stop at Urquhart Castle and then a bus ride back to town. The boat ride itself was fun — a few hours in we were treated to an impromptu whiskey tasting (yeah, try downing 3 reserve’s and a single malt before touring around the castle…) by one of the Chivas Regal distributors, which was an excellent surprise.
If you’re a student, the bonuses get even better as they offer a decent discount.
Sadly, no Nessie sightings ;) Maybe next time…

The Jacobite Cruises are a good way to see Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal. There are various cruises to choose from and various boats. You can even hire a cruiser for a function or corporate event. The cruises are relaxing and the boats are well kitted out. I went on a cruise to urquhart castle which was very relaxing and scenic. There is a bar on board if you would like a refreshment. You can sit inside or outside depending on the weather and which you would prefer. The staff on board were very helpful and entertaining. The boat I was on was comfortable and provided everything you needed for a short trip. I went with a group of friends and it was a great trip for being able to chat and relax and enjoy each others company in the nice surroundings.

The Jacobite cruisers are a great way to see Loch Ness.
There are a variety of different boats with varying lengths of cruise and therefore different prices to suit your budget or time constraints.
The majority of the boats also have a small bar selling tea, coffee, beer etc.
The cruise is also a great way to find out a bit more about the Loch and it’s geology and history.

Normally, I’m not a cruise kind of person but when I was a kid it was a dream of mine to see the loch ness monster (normal childhood right?) now that I’m all grown up (or so I tell myself) it seems sort of corny (but secretly I was still interested) so I decided the best way to hunt the monster was to camp it up a bit (do it right, go all out) and Jacobite seemed the way to go my intuition wasn’t wrong it was a fun trip (it was wrong about little nessie though I didn’t get to see the monster :-(

A great way to travel and see the banks of LochNess from the comfort of the boat. There is a cabin area on the boat so if the weather is bad you can sit inside and enjoy the trip without getting wet. The staff on the boat are knowlegeable and friendly. Urquhart Castle looks great from the loch and who knows you may even see Nessy :-)
