The Tomato Stall

In cookery, there are tomatoes and then there are Tomato Stall tomatoes. This is recently become one of my favourite stalls at Borough Market
Stocking only tomatoes grown all year round in their own farm on the Isle of Wight, they pick their fruit at the peak level of ripeness, delivering a guaranteed level of sweetness which you can’t guarantee in supermarket fruit
They grow about 40 varieties commercially and their stall is a riot of different colours and sizes
They also have a most impressive lineup of processed products. They oak roast their tomatoes with different herbs but I love their tomato chilli jam the best, which matches so sweet tomato flavour with a satisfying late hit of chilli. They also carry tomato relish, passata, tomato juice and tomato chutney
