The Linden Cafe

Like the previous reviewer, found this café on Qype, and I’m glad we did. We had a lovely light lunch here, I had a jacket potato with egg mayo filling, and my partner had a bacon sarnie and tea. Food came quickly, staff were friendly and prices were very reasonable. I’ll probably bring friends here when visiting me, as it’s a good place to sit and chat

Found this café via Qype (it does work) and the fantastic breakfasts do live up to their reputation. Bacon and sausages were grilled or griddled not deep fat fried and the granary toast was particularly delicious. Standard all day breakfast is £4.50 or £6.50 with a glass of orange juice and a bottomless cup of tea or coffee (free refills). Tea is fair trade and the milk is fresh not plastic. Warning — the standard spread for bread and toast is not real butter so ask if you would prefer the real thing. If you don’t want a full breakfast then breakfast sandwiches are available on standard bread or a soft roll from £2.30 and on a doorstep for 40p extra. There is also a wide range of Panini and Baked Potatoes available. Delicious cakes are on display in the counter cabinet including a particularly tasty looking Caramel Shortbread. Staff are friendly, plenty of papers to read and the food is freshly cooked from actual ingredients. Eating in costs an extra 30p per person (for nice china and quality cutlery) or you can take away. They even deliver locally in the week :)

This brilliant little café serves up simple but very tasty homemade food. The sandwiches come in ‘doorstep’ varieties and don’t disappoint. There’s an excellent choice of hot and cold fillings, and they’re good on price too. The café itself is small, there is only seating for two or three groups of people, but it has a nice atmosphere and usually some newspapers if you do want to hang around. Otherwise, its great to take away. Very friendly and helpful staff.
