History

Established in 1997.

It’s been well over a decade since the Leeds Guide was launched as a monthly, black and white A5 listings magazine, and in that time a lot has changed in Leeds. We’ve seen our city grow and bloom, our bars, shops and restaurants are well-known across the country, and Leeds has become a real destination.

Leeds Guide has also changed a lot in its time. The magazine is now an A4 fortnightly, full colour paid-for magazine, found in most newsagents and supermarkets across Leeds and is the longest running magazine in the city, as well as the only general interest Leeds-specific paid for title.

Meet the Business Owner

Ian M.

Business Owner

Originally from the northeast of England, Ian Macdonald read English Language, Linguistics and media at UEA in Norwich before graduating in 1995 with a Second Class Honours degree and beginning a successful media publishing career with a stint at consumer magazine publisher Highbury House Communications PLC and on The Independent newspaper in London.

Relocating to Leeds in 1998, Ian worked for several print media companies including the Auto Trader group and Yorkshire Post Newspapers where he won a company-wide award for implementing successful creative advertising campaigns for local businesses. Making his Leeds Guide debut in 2002 as a sales representative, Ian has worked hard ever since to build lasting partnerships with new and existing businesses and has played a crucial role in enabling the company to blossom from a small enterprise to one of Yorkshire’s most successful independent multimedia publishers.
