This place seems rather soulless, one of those bars which seems to basically be a slightly nicer version of Wetherspoons, all laminate flooring and faux leather seating. However when I went in for lunch the lack of personality in the décor was tempered by the very friendly bartender. They also have a good drinks selection, with a cocktail list alongside the expected wine and beer. I had a roasted vegetable panini which was perfectly pleasant, and an ‘apple pie’ mocktail,(basically apple juice and grenadine) which was rather sweet, but again, it was nice to have a soft drink option beyond just a coke or a J2O. They have a courtyard out the back, and a roof terrace which catches the sun — if I was a smoker I would like to sit up here to have my food and drink. They do a few drinks deals after work, and on evenings such as their quiz nights.

This is one of those cheap and cheerful places that tries to cater for all, although it doesn’t really succeed in that aim. I was quite surprised to find somewhere like this in a place like Lewes, where most residents are over the age of 50, and also pretty middle class. While Lincolns really isn’t for me, they do tick a number of boxes; in the day you can get a free wi-fi connection and a lunchtime food menu comprised of standard fayre like Burgers and chips. In the evening you can get a post work cocktail for the very reasonable price of £3.95, you will also find a decent looking tapas menu as well.
