Used to be a top fave of mine and my friends but I’d say it’s gone down hill a bit now. Rude door staff, though the bar staff are very friendly. Though prices have risen they’ve managed to keep their famous £1 shots of many varieties. Worth a visit but I personally don’t like to stay too long.

I’m not a raving fan of the new Baa Bar at the top of Myrtle Street but at least it’s large enough to accommodate slightly more people than can fit in a gnome’s wardrobe. This certain establishment, close to Concert Square doesn’t even have that quality to redeem it. The drinks, especially the shots with stupid names, can be ludicrously cheap but that attracts all the kinds of scumbag you’d expect. Bear in mind I already mentioned the fact it’s close to Concert Square. The music is uniformly terrible enough to lure in the posers and so because of this, I avoid it like a vasectomy from a chimp, even one that was free.

I generally try to avoid this Baa Bar. It’s close proximity to the horrible Concert Square results in it being infested with rude, drunken undesirables most nights of the week. I don’t discriminate against chavs or anything, they just don’t take to kindly to any lad who doesn’t sport a 2 all over. However, the one night that I have been known to venture to this Baa Bar is on a Monday night when they host an alternative club night upstairs, currently going by the name Disco Blackout. Offering a mix of alternative genres, I would recommend it to anyone who is into that sort of stuff as the good songs mixed with cheap Baa Bar shots and drink deals always results in a good night(and bad morning after) for me.

Oh god, I hate you sometimes Unilocal, but as a dedicated scout I’ll bite the bulet and venture where grown men fear to tread. Baa Bar considers itself to be the originator of the bar/club combination back when the acid house scene was fully kicking off and the need for a halfway house between Cream and your local was the first step in a brave new world of late night drinking. The Baa Bar on Fleet St near Concert Sq is a pretty horrible place unless you’re young enough need ID. The shot selection is vast and dangerously cheap — there is one on the menu invented by a friend of mine solely for the purpose of getting us a drunk as quick as possible and not for any human with tastebuds. The music is of a heavy R&B style and the lighting is fittingly like something out from an Usher video — no LILJOHN on hand to burst my eardrums though.

It’s not often I go to a bar and feel like one of the oldest people in the room. The current Baa Bar clientele however, are so young that most of them probably need to take their identity cards out with them. We popped in on a Friday night and all three bars seemed fully occupied by groups of young’uns flirting, chatting, laughing and drinking bottles of WKD. Maybe it’s the big dancefloor, slick R&B and upbeat dance that draws them in but I suspect it might have more to do with the £1 shots! We were debating staying for one drink when it dawned on us that not only were we the oldest gals in the room, we were also the only ones not wearing a skimpy dress and stack heels. I don’t mind listening to Girls Aloud occasionally but the idea of being completely surrounded by Cheryl Cole wannabes made us head straight for the door!

Baa Bars can be very hit and miss. The one in the Gay Village in Manchester for example — fantastic, but its counterpart on Deansgate Locks? Rubbish. So how on earth was Baa Bar in Liverpool going to fare? It’s had a recent refurb, this one, so it’s looking brand spanking fresh. It’s sandwiched between the fashionable Seel Street and Wood Street so it’s in a good location, definitely a bit of a hotspot. As with a lot of Baa Bars there’s a mirrored wall, plenty of groovy décor and bright colours, clearly lit giant menus of shots and cocktails you can order and funky pop music with some popular rock thrown in. It’s a large Baa Bar, this one, split level with a downstairs large bar and two bars upstairs, as well as tables and chairs on the terrace for smokers. Speaking of comfort you’re never short of a leather sofa or two to slouch on, and the place is surprisingly clean for a bar popular with students and youngsters. Speaking of the clientele, you’ll find all walks of life here, and all kinds of identities. As you no doubt already know Baa Bar is the place for shots, from creamy and sweet morsels of deliciousness to the ones that you dare your friends to try. Urgh. There’s nothing on tap but plenty of bottled beers and alcopops to keep your whistle wet. This one’s one of the better Baa Bars. Its location and its excellent upkeep means it maintains a lively atmosphere and it’s a great place to have a silly night out. Enjoy.

This Baa differs to the one on Myrtle street because, even though it’s had a refurb and the interiors look fab, it can’t help but attract detritus. And I mean that in the nicest way. The idiots I mentioned in Myrtle Street who ask for every shot off the menu tend to come here rather than all the way up the hill to the new one. And then there’s the suspicious looking people who belong in tracksuits who only seem to want to drink water all night… True, it doesn’t seem to be as bad as it has been in the past, but even walking past Baa Bar today in the middle of the afternoon there was a policeman stood outside and he wasn’t there by chance. If you’re a tourist in Liverpool and you want to go to a bar where a fight will break out, Baa could be on that list. As I say though, generally its not really that bad and unfortunately people seem to take advantage of the cheap drinks very early on and then get a bit boisterous as the night progresses. All that aside, if you want to have a private party there, there is a function room upstairs and the staff are more than happy to accommodate you and suss out specific drinks offers for your group.

Baa Baa the king of all the shot establishments, if you want a shot or two or three then head to Baa Baa, they have all sorts of shots, though i am not fully sure that the shorts have alcohol in them and are not just syrup flavoured shots. I have my doubts, though there can be no doubting the effect of the black assassin in particular or white assassin if they have no black sambuca. I used to go to Baa Baa a lot but i have not been in recent times and i understand the prices have changed though everything is more expensive in the current climate or was. In my experience though, Baa Baa is definately worth a try if you like a shot or two

Baa Bar is good for one thing only… the £1 shots, they are fab. The Music can be hit and miss, depends on what nite you go i guess, i have had good nites up stairs in the Baa Bar but the Toilets are vile(up and down), and i dont feel safe with unisex loo’s :S the price of drinks is crap aswel, not sure if they do bottle offers but the vodka redbulls are expensive for the small glass you get. All in all its an ok place for a few nice shots while your passing to keep you going lol.

Baa Baa used to be one of the essential stops on any night out — but the prices have risen a bit too much and it is in a bit of a statelike pickem says, the shots are still good(and they are cheap).

I love this place when I lived in Liverpool, many a messy saturday was spent downing shooters and dancing to some pretty good funky house. I haven’t been in for a while but I have to say, it was a bit chavvy. Not the kind of crowd that used to go down. Cheap drinks though so ideal for students!

This place used to be one of the best places to go in Liverpool, and was pretty ground breaking when it first opened. In recent years though, it seems to have lost a lot of what made it special(possibly because it has been copied), and now is full of a very different clientèle — certainly not the club-savvy students of yesteryear, and more like the WAGs of modern times. Best avoided, unless you go specifically for the drinks offers which can probably be matched by other, more cool places.

Another favourite of mine, the Baa Baa was always on my hit list in my student days. A popular place for young 20 somethings. Great music, a mixture of House and R&B — always loud and lively. The best thing was the shot menu, you could have every shot imaginable, they also used to have Baa Baa Bingo, which was a bingo card which was filled in after every purchase and you got a free shot with every full card — Brilliant, those where the days!

This place is famous for its legendary shots. There’s a million to choose from, you’ll be there all night choosing! Quite a young studenty crowd. Upstairs club and open terrace with seating for smoking.

Fun bar which famously does every ‘shot’ under the sun — they’re like mini cocktails in a shot glass! The staff are really well-trained and friendly, and can all make up the complicated shots in a flash without even looking at the menus! Quite a young trendy crowd, funky music and a great atmospherecheap shots too, they always used to be £1 but that might have gone up over the last couple of years. A cheap and original way to start your night off, and get a few quick drinks down you before heading out! It’s really central, so an ideal stop on a bar-crawl or a night out where you’re visiting a few different places. Alternatively there’s a nightclub upstairs above the bar, so you could stay there and boogie the night away.

This bar used to be great, but then the management hiked up the prices and i think forgot to clean the loo’s! Now it is full of chav’s and the door staff just aren’t helpful at all. The only saving grace is the shots are still yummy It’s a shame that such a good place can fall into such a dire state.
