The Battery Shop is tiny and absolutely full to bust with odds and ends: batteries (obviously) in every shape and size for what I imagine to be every requirement; it’s not the sort of place you go to browse, ask the owner and he’ll find it/​fix it, htough rarely with a smile. I tend not to go here for this reason, plus, for a watch battery he charges more than another little place I know. The convenience of the shop is appealing, and if you are in need of a pretty rare or obscure item, you’re likely to find it here!

Blink and you miss it, this is a tiny shop situated at the level crossing end of St Johns Road. Its position at the quiet end of St Johns Rod means its far easier to park outside or nearby. The shop is a little treasure trove, selling every kind of battery you could possibly need; for your watch, your torch, your stereo. It is the place to go with unusual or antique items that require an obsqure battery. The staff are deft at battery replacement; simply hand over your watch and they unscrew and change it in an instant– job done. They also sell mobile phone batteries, phone chagrgers, and other odds and ends.
