Jacobs is a specialist photography store situated on Bold Street in Liverpool City Centre. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and are happy to spend as much time as you need helping you out and giving you advice. They are very knowledgeable and obviously well trained in the stock they have. They have an excellent film processing service which is fast and efficient and they always have your photos back on time as promised.

The staff in here are just wonderful. I had been considering, browsing and saving up for a DSLR and was unsure about the make and model suited to my needs and the price I should really be looking to pay; they are cheap on the internet, but I wanted a more personal shopping experience with a reputable retailer. I popped in to Jacobs for advice, adn was blown away by the service of the assistant. He showed me the camera I was interested in compared with others makes and models, insisting that this cheaper model was perfect for my needs. I was guided through all the features, informed of the lenses available, shown the process of lense changing and methods of cleaning, quite literally everything I would need to know. I was totally convinced to buy this model but unfortnately the price put me off: nearly £200 more than«somewhere» on the very same street. I am ashamed to say that despite this lovely assitant’s helpful advice, I bought from this«somewhere» and was given a free gift(Sony DSLR carry case) for my trouble! Sorry Jacob’s.

For the enthusiast and amatuer photographer who takes their hobby seriously then Jacobs is probably going to be the best place for all your needs. Not as well stocked with the serious gear the professionals might need that Callumet and other retailers might supply, Jacobs has good stock and knowledgeable staff who always seem to take the time to answer your queries or provide answers any time they can. They still have a place for film cameras and film stock too with processing available should you prefer it old school.

So as I’m pretty obsessed with my camera and quality photography, finding a good photo store is important to me. This shop offers a great range of lens and stocks high quality brands such as Lumix and Nikon. After perusing all the shelves, a really nice sales assistant talked me through the benefits of each camera. I found him to be extremely knowledgable, and not just another corporate slave. You can also get your photos developed in there on some machine, although to be honest I prefer to just do that online. Like most photography stores, they sell a range of picture accessories to cater to all your image needs.

Jacobs is a well known chain of photo stores and is well suited to provide everything a professional or amateur photographer may need to support there business and hobby. The Bold street branch fits this exactly and is full to the brim with all of the products you will need to take a wide range of great photos. However despite the staff being knowledgeable on the products, they offer little help in suggesting a cheaper alternative and the pressure is always on to spend more than you may want. The products themselves are also overpriced and it took me little effort to quickly find what I needed for much less online.

Jacobs is well known for its top quality photography equipment and accessories. If you are after a proper camera with long zoom and wide angled lens, they host a wide range of high quality brands such as Nikon and Canon for the more serious and professional photographers. Prices as you would expect, are high since this shop is dedicated to cameras. Most digital cameras here are pricier than other shops so I would compare before you buy. Even if you’re a novice, friendly and approachable staff will be guaranteed to give you 100% first-hand tips and advice to suit your needs. They also have a small monthly magazine you can take free of charge, so you have the freedom to browse their products at leisure and a company website where you can place an order.
