Kays Pharmacy is an independent chemist situated next to a rough looking public house on London road and is probably where people go for their hangover cures. I have always found that Kays is an excellent place simply because of the personal touch that they add to your experience and the fact that the staff are quite frankly second to none. After getting a tattoo I was unsure of the best treatment in terms of cream but Kays helped me out straight away and they really did behave in the most professional of fashions which was great to see. This place certainly beats Lloyd’s pharmacy on London road which is often full of drunks and is very unpleasant indeed. Essentially the personal touch gives this place the edge over some mainstream chain stores.

In a world dominated by Boots and Super Drug, it’s hard to find an independent pharmacy/drug store these days. Kays Pharmacy on London Road is very tiny indeed, but independently sticking it out amongst all the big chain names. If you need pain killers or plasters, face cream or a birthday card, you can probably find it here. It’s a very small selection of items, but you will find the basics, so don’t hesitate to pop in if you’re over this way and need something you might generally purchase in a Boots or Asda.

I wasn’t actually needing the services of the pharmacy but I was wanting a little gift for my mum and the colour of Kay’s shop front is VERY eye catching. I was surprised to find a range of potential items that I could buy. Yardley and Morny products as well as Ponds cream which reminded me of my grandma. With some friendly help and advice I decided on some Yardley along with wrapping paper and a birthday card from their small selection of cards. Job done! For those interested, I also discovered that Kay’s Pharmacy has toiletries, sun cream and fake tan and bits and bobs for babies including nappies.
