I know the name Miss Millie might conjure images of a BBQ joint that sells southern-fried chicken, home-fries and baked peach pie. The truth however, is this particular Miss Millie is a DIY jewellery and accessories boutique. Admittedly, they import quite a lot of vintage and antique jewellery from the U.S. but the majority of their stock is cute, customized stuff. Think cupcake and jammy dodger necklaces, lightening flash ear-rings, candy colours hair ribbons and music note brooches. They also tattoo tote bags, pop art clutches and bizzarely, the odd silver knuckle duster. Whilst I’m dissappointed they don’t sell pecan pie with bourbon ice-cream, I love the fact Miss Millie sell unique accessories. They also score an extra point for playing The Gossip and Le Tigre on the stereo.

Love it. Miss Millie can make my brooches and hair ribbons any day. From over the top bright ribboned head bands to sweet based jewellery… necklaces laced with jellybabies? Yep. Iced gem rings? Yep. Party ring earrings? Yep. Awesome. The vintage brooches are beautiful, they have an assortment of styles and they have big detailed ones for around £8. My favourite items in the whole shop, which is a really difficult call to make, are the pocket watch necklaces. They have an array of fronts and little gold vintage watches too, all around the £20 mark. With a kitsch range of bags, scarves, rings and all sorts(including the Liquorice kind) come to Millie’s for a fun twist on vintage shopping.

I love Miss Millie. I have the best little vintage looking necklace from there that says ‘Oui’ on it, it’s very Urban Outfitters sheek, at a fraction of the price. This little boutique offers a range of kitsch bags, and jewellery. Ranging from cupcake rings to teapot necklaces, I just can’t get enough of the accessories on offer. Their brooches are spectacular, and I believe a lot of their merchandise is handmade which I think is fantastic. The staff are really friendly. If you’re looking for the ‘ideal’ gift then they always have a lot of advice to offer. My favourite jewellery shop so far. Definitely worth a visit as it has such a great vintage feel.

If you love unique, unusual jewellery and accessories, you need to drag yourself over to Miss Millie, inside Grand Central on Renshaw Street, because they offer one of the widest varieties of vintage and handmade jewellery that I’ve seen in Liverpool so far. The shop is about half and half of vintage/handmade. The shop owner told me that a lot of her vintage items come from America, and she has only recently returned from a buying trip in New York(June 2010), so you might want to check out her shop as soon as possible before all the good stuff is bought up! I saw a lot of really cool necklaces and pendants at great prices(most between £4 and £6), as well as really snazzy broaches, earrings, handbags, and some cute kawaii style items and some 60’s/hippy type stuff. It’s definitely worth a poke around, especially if you are already heading to Grand Central, or you’re in need of a vintage shopping spree. Just let me know when you’re going cuz I wanna go with you and keep you from buying all the stuff I want for myself!
