O’Neill’s

Stopped here for a breakfast one Saturday morning while visiting Liverpool. it was conveniently located next to our hotel, and my mum had been before and said it had been OK. Unfortunately our visit was a bit of a disaster. We ordered 2 large vegetarian breakfasts, a portion of pancakes with two extra veggie sausages on the side for me, and a classic breakfast. The tea and coffee is only £1 each for unlimited refills, which is quite a good deal, but unfortunately it wasn’t very nice.
Bizarrely our server came back over before our food came to take our money. She didn’t give us a bill or anything just told us how much our order came to. I don’t know why we just paid it, it was very strange, we should have really asked fr the bill. Maybe this is common O’Neill’s practice?
When our meals came we were served 2 normal sized vegetarian breakfasts, not large, and an «omelette» and veggie sausages. The classic breakfast was fine — 1 out of 4 ain’t bad… I had to send back the «omelette» since I didn’t actually order that in the first place and also because it was the saddest looking thing I’d ever seen in my life. It was like those egg things you get in a Burger King breakfast. My mum and sister just made do with their small breakfasts even though they ordered large. We couldn’t even check our bill to see if we’d been charged extra because we weren’t given one. As I was halfway through my pancakes (3 small pancakes, more disappointment) our waitress came back over and said because of the mix up we owed them 50p more, but she’d come back for it once I’d finished. I really couldn’t believe the gall of that to be honest! After messing up almost the complete order and not providing us with a receipt they could have just let a 50p charge go!
The veggie sausages were really nice and that’s about all I can say I enjoyed really. We were hoping for a big feed to fuel our day ahead but were hungry again by lunchtime. It’ll probably be a long while before I’m back in an O’Neill’s for food again!

Excellent pub and atmosphere and loads of live music. Don’t miss John O’Connell who plays here, he’s brilliant! Irish, folk, Duelling Banjos! Just ask.
Right next to Central Station too so not far to stagger after a good night :-)

ONeills is situated on Hanover Street, on the corner of Wood Street in the heart of Liverpool’s nightlife area. It is a large pub which always seems busy and popular.
The staff are very friendly and take great care to ensure you have the food and drink you want, prepared how you want it.
The only food I have had here was one of their burgers, as I had a voucher for a burger and a drink for £5. The burger was huge, of an excellent quality, and even if it had been full price it would have been well worth it.
The bar is large and is well stocked. They have an excellent range of soft drinks and alcoholic drinks and the staff are very knowledgeable about the stock they have.
The pub can get very busy, especially at the weekend, and sometimes it can be a little bit cramped. But the atmosphere is still good.

I’ve never really understood the fury from some people when it comes to fake Irish pubs. Yeah sure, they’re ordinarily crappy places but what’s the big deal? It’s not exactly cultural theft. Do these people get just as angry when they see their local chippy branding itself as the All American Burger Joint? I doubt it.
O’Neill’s problem is that it gets too busy for its own good. It’s normally a very lively place, helped along by a band playing fiddly-​diddly versions of 80s’ classics on tin whistles and bodhrans, but the fact it can take ages to get served detriments it somewhat. Nevertheless, if you come here with expectations scraping beneath your soles, you can have a few decent enough hours.

O’Neill’s is an Irish Pub and Grill located on a corner of Liverpool’s main clubbing scene (next to Popworld).
This lunchtime was the first occasion I’d been to an Irish gastropub and I’m pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Their eye-​catching menu was hard to ignore, all sounding delicious but I decided to go for a classic burger meal that came with chips. I know this does not sound the most exciting of meals, however I thought it was one of the more decent burgers I’ve had. The burger was a lean and meaty 8oz whopper that came in a crisp salad bun accompanied with thick-​sliced chips. There was no grease left on my plate which suggested but that the quality of food was healthy. I was also full by the end of the meal which is always a good sign. For only £4.30, Burger King should watch out, it has some competition about!
Both the service and food was good. Better than I expected. Next time, I hope to try some of their other meals including Irish steak and of course, the full Irish breakfast.

O’Neill’s is one of those chain Irish bars that can be very hit and miss, but this one’s a goodie. It’s very large and its location next to two central train stations means it’s also very popular. It is rather bustling and busy, quite noisy too if you can handle it but it tends to quieten down in the afternoons.
With lots of surrounding pubs, why necessarily choose O’Neill’s? Well, it happens to be an excellent place to watch the football, or any other sports for that matter. It will get a little bit crowded at times like this but the service remains really sharp and efficient. They’re incredibly strict on IDs in here, so even if you’re convinced you look over 21 be sure to have it with you at all times to avoid embarrassment. Plenty of Guinness on tap, good stuff too and lots of classic pub grub to chow down on. Usually it has a good atmosphere but you can get the occasional ruffians who spoil it, then again when a bar’s this central and the drinks are cheap it’s unavoidable. Generally jolly good fun!

O’Neill’s is a chain of Irish pubs, and what better place to go on St. Paddy’s Day? It has brilliant atmosphere, especially when there are football matches on the tele. All the Liverpool FC fans, and even the Gaelic sports fans head down to the pub to celebrate in true Irish style. There is live music every day so you’ll never be bored of the same old juke box — there is a wide variety of Irish music, but also indie and big band music.
The staff are great, and friendly, the owner is actually Irish which is always a bonus :)

No matter when you pass O’Neill’s, there are always people standing outside and it has the effect of looking busy all the time. And that is quite an accomplishment, as it has the longest opening hours of any pub I’ve ever seen — it’s only shut for 7 hours every day!
It’s your bog standard Irish pub with the added bonus of the fact that I’m yet to be thrown out for dancing on the tables! There tends to be live music most days and the DJ actually listens to your requests and plays them. I’ve not eaten here but I’ve seen the food being served and it looks pretty good. Not quite gastropub but probably a rural Irish equivalent.
This is another venue that seems to attract hen parties, but in this case that’s not particularly a bad thing, as for some reason there always seems to be far more men than women. I doubt you’ll meet Colin Farrell down here, but you are likly to have a good old knees up and if you let you guard down you may be required to Riverdance!

We’re fans of this pub though have only been to the ones in Cardiff and Bridgend up till the other day. It’s quite a big city pub and close to the two main railway stations. The service was good and friendly as we’ve come to expect but it was incredibly busy and noisy — silly to expect anything else on a Friday evening really! We were lucky to get two seats; I had quite a wait at the bar but then the food arrived faster than we’d expected. Some great choices of meals at O’Neill’s and a few nice vegetarian options, and not as expensive as many places. Draught Guinness too and nice wine, can’t remember what else was on offer…

O’Neills is a well known great Irish bar located on the corner of Wood Street and Hanover Street and is just a short walk from Central Train Station. This is a popular area with lots of good surrounding bars /​pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. O’Neills serves great beer with a warm welcome. Food is excellent with everyday good offers and prices and regular promotions. Service is speedy and the whole place is comfortable and has a good atmosphere. This is a great choice for a quiet drink at lunchtime or equally as a night out choice. Tends to get very busy especially for football matches etc but is good fun.
