I like this pub some funny characters but very friendly atmosphere. If like me you know most people in there you get a warm welcome from all the staff and punters. If you just want a quiet drink you rarely get bothered(you may get the odd drunk old man/woman talk to you but harmless really). They have a student night on a Tuesday and karaōke most days so if you fancy belting out a dodgy tune go in and fill your boots. Night times they always have music on or a dj so you can always have a little drunken dance. So on the whole it’s a friendly pub drinks are cheap day and night do great pub I think.

Renshaw’s is a great little pub, the bar staff are very friendly and they serve a great pint of Guinness. I wouldn’t say this was a family pub, but it’s a great little place to pop in for an afternoon pint. It’s one of the few remaining traditional pubs that aren’t brewery owned and serving shit ale with a Hungry Horse menu! It’s one of those pubs where you can wander in and buy a pint and keep yourself to yourself, or you can almost always strike a conversation up with a stranger. It’s nice to see there are still pubs where you can speak to strangers without feeling strange or uncomfortable, after all, isn’t that what pubs are about? Renshaws is student friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend taking a lairy group in here on a night out as it’s full of regulars and it would be shit to upset the atmosphere!

Judging by the rotundity of most people in here, either I’d entered Liverpool’s only widescreen pub or, more likely, a lot of the patrons were overweight. Place your bets. As I squeezed my way to the bar, a sweltering man was belting out Sinatra on the karaōke. I’ve never understood why establishments so often put on this kind of entertainment. I thought the whole point of entertainment was to try and please as many folks as possible, as opposed to the one guy doing it and his three mates. A bit less crowded and without the caterwauling and this pub probably improves quite a bit, a scruffy, sodden boozer. However, this isn’t the BBC. It’s a review and I can be as subjective as I want, dammit. Avoid Renshaw’s.
