History
Established in 1822.
The Ship and Mitre is known to many as Merseyside’s Premier Real Ale pub. It has been named Liverpool & District CAMRA Pub Of The Year numerous times, most recently in 2009. The name derives from a combination of two previous names, The Flag Ship and The Mitre. An original 1930’s Art Deco building, the interior has been changed to resemble that of a ship downstairs, and the Function Room still has the original 30’s Art Deco interior.
The Ship and Mitre serves an excellent range of cask conditioned real ale, imported draught and a wide selection of German and Belgian beers. It is well known amongst CAMRA members and is regularly featured in Merseyale and The Good beer Guide. There are 15 handpumps offering real ales and ciders from microbreweries all over the country. Each brewery only delivers one barrel of each brew, which is why we have three menu boards placed around the pub so you don’t have to walk around looking at all of the pump clips.
