Okay… this was interesting. My cousin and I stopped in here after a few drinks at Lennon’s Bar because the music was blasting and sounded amazing. Strike one: they don’t take cards. Call me a spoiled New Yorker if you must but cash is not something anyone carries. Strike two: the music wasn’t 80’s. The dj was awful. He did give us Tiffany and Madonna but the bee gees are not 80’s. Take That aren’t 80’s either. Strike three: the dance floor reeked of the the bathroom. Ekk! Two stars for relatively cheap booze, no cover and the Jude Law look alike that I got to dance with.

Access to the Tube can be found through a solitary door in the flashy hellhole that is the Mathew Street area. The narrowness of this entrance can feel like you’re literally entering a tube, one that will drop you into a garbage disposal. Unfortunately, it just plunges you into an 80’s bar. Make of that what I heavily imply you will. Little more than a dancefloor a-rockin’ to the caterwauling sounds of eighties trash, the likeability of the club can be surmised by its description in the Mathew Street venue directory–«Ideal for Hen or Stag Nights.» A shiver just ran down my spine.

The Tube is an 80’s bar where the music is utter cheese. Now I’m not normally one to turn my nose up at cheese but this place wasn’t for me. There is quite a lot of competition in the area for 80s and 90s music, and unfortunately this one comes last for me. They have some drinks offers on, and it’s not a bad place to start the night, but in my opinion dancing like a lunatic to cheesy 80’s pop music is something that should be left until the end of the night, not the beginning.
