Total Smithdown Road Service Station

As a nipper, I used to find it extraordinary that this place was open all the time, like, even at night. I was easily amazed as a child. Also, this was back in the days when not everything worked ²⁴⁄₇. Even the fifteen websites that constituted the Internet stopped at 11pm sharp after playing the national anthem.
As a non-​driving cretin, coming here now is pretty much like visiting a cash machine with a redundant petrol station stitched onto the side of it. However, if you’re one of those automobilists I’ve heard about, this place sells that black stuff you need to make your enginized vessel run.

The total garage and forecourt shop is a pretty much run of the mill petrol station that runs late into the night for topping up on the way out of the city or towards the airport. Its shop sells papers and refreshments as per usual.
The best thing about this petrol station is its attached cash machine; I’m becoming obsessed with pointing out places where you can get free cash withdrawals but I really do find it a bit of a p*ss take to have to pay to get your own money out from the bank. Considering this cash point is conveniently close to the Brookhouse pub I thought it was worth mentioning as a point of interest to avoid paying for any withdrawals.
