This review is coming a little late, but doesn’t take away from how terrible my experience at Acu Channel was. I’ve been to my fair share of Asian massage places, and have become accustomed to the relative bareness of the venues, down to the lack of blankets/towels to cover yourself whilst on the massage table. But, at the very least, those places also had relatively decent massages. This time, the masseuse decided to strike up a conversation with me, in Cantonese, in order to tell me that she doesn’t really like doing massages, is only working at Acu Channel because she’s living in England with her boyfriend, and then slap my back repeatedly in an attempt to get me to «relax.» That, plus her mediocre massage and decision to tell me all about her period cramps, was just a tad too much. I really shouldn’t have even paid her because my experience was so bad, but I decided to be polite. I, however, will never be going back again.

Place rating: 5 Palo Alto, CA
Size: Small, like most other businesses — downstairs area reserved for massages that’s very peaceful. Dimly lit and glowing with candles. Upstairs area for mostly nails. Services offered: massage, waxing, acupuncture. Loved the massage — I go to a lot of massage therapy locations — sports massage, deep tissue, hot stone, but I can promise I have never felt better after a massage than I did after going to this place. Mixtures of techniques(shiatsu, deep tissue) are used in this massage — obviously depending on the type you request. Packages are available so rates are GREAT when you’re living in London. Definitely worth your money. Mostly asian people working here but they work super hard. This is a great, no frills place, to get your knots out for an awesome price in a short time.
