All The Fun Of The Fair

For a shop that is so centrally located, All The Fun of The Fair offers some pretty cheap prices for its bits and bobs. Given that the shop is not much bigger than a single-​car garage, the selection of wool is not hugely extensive; however, it’s selective — I found plenty of lovely colours and compositions whose prices didn’t make me cry (this happens a lot in London haberdasheries, genuine sticker-​shock tears).
The service was hands-​off when I wanted it to be, and friendly when I needed it to be.
Perfect.

I come back to this place again and again. I never buy much, usually just a few buttons or a skein of yarn, but the shop is so cozy and the staff are lovely. My post-​work drink meetup used to be closer, so I don’t get in quite as often anymore, but visiting here in a must when I’m nearby. Even if I don’t need anything. Simply popping in to see what neat handmades they’re featuring or to pet the yarn, it’s worth it. LOVE!

This is one of my top three in terms of London yarn shops. The wool and yarns they sell are great: there is always something interesting there that ‘leaps’ off the shelf and into your resisting hands…
Unfortunately their range seems to change rapidly between visits so if you are hoping to find an additional skein you could be disappointed. It’s a very good idea to call ahead and ask.
They have an amazing range of gifts, so if you’re looking for a funky knitted item: this is THE place for it.
They do other accessories: I picked up some ribbons for bargain prices and little flower appliqué things.
There is just one gripe that I have and it’s a major one: on the last two occasasions when I popped in they did not have a single 4 mm circular needle. They had lots and lots of 3.25 but had completely run out of the standard sizes. I pointed it out to staff who wasn’t aware of it at all. Should I need another Knit Pro or Addi Lace, I’ll call ahead as well.
PS: The very best thing about this shop is their completely amazing opening hours: they are open seven days a week (yes they are, I couldn’t believe it either) and pretty late too: 11 – 7 Mon-​Sat and 12 – 5 on Sun. Amazing!

Great friendly staff and a good range of gifty things for knitterly friends, even if you don’t knit yourself. They always have a little basket of stuff on sale — like you can usually pick up vintage patterns for 50p. Well worth a browse!

All the fun of the fair lives up to its name and then some. It’s a treasure trove of crafty and knitting supplies, it has some really lovely wool and yarn and a nice range of knitting needles. Alongside this, you can pick up patterns, instructional books and very cute little labels to sew into your knitted goods. There’s also a good few accessories and other crafty supplies.
If you’re not much of a knitter, you can always pick up some of their hand-​knitted examples — from knitted cupcakes to tea cosies. All very cute.
It’s a lovely little shop with helpful staff and beautiful window displays.

I’m a fan of anyone who can knit a doughnut, and knitted doughnuts are all the rage here. Tucked inside Kingly Court, just off Carnaby Street, I wandered into this place with a friend. I think, you can probably purchase an entire three-​course meal of knitted items, which is hilarious. Who wouldn’t want a knitted carrot?
It’s quite nice that such a place exists, to encourage those to want to create things. It reminds me of a news story about a granny who knitted boobs to encourage young mothers to breastfeed. This place was just cute, cute, cute and very kitsch. If a boy went in here, he’d vomit from the sight of all the fluffy rabbits, hot-​cross buns, cupcakes and pizza items. I was quite impressed to see the lady in the shop, knitting away too. There is no end to what can be made out of wool it seems!

I don’t knit, or really sew, but i always have a quick peep in this lovely shop, you know that sort of place you say i want that I don’t know why or what i’ll do with it, but i’m buying it, they have quirky things that have been knitted including cactus and camera’s
they have a mix of things to make amd things people have made the turn over of stock is quick and they encourage new designers.
they have just started up knitting classes so there’s no excuse now !

Haberdashery is my newest favorite word.
Haberdashery. Haber-​dash-​er-​y. And this place is full of it! They have a small selection of quality yarns and other knit knacks, but the best part all were the knitted and crochetted trinkets that are all over the store. They have everything made out of yarn… cookies, donuts, tea sets, veggies, and flowers. This is a great place to grab a small gift for your mom or for a new mother!

When I was a little girl my Granny gave me a box of buttons and wool to play with to entertain me while I was staying at hers for the Easter break. Although this sounds like the beginning of a story about my impoverished youth, it actually has more to do with my Gran’s failed attempts at getting me into knitting and all other housewifely activities. Rather than start to knit little hats for my dolls or a scarf for my mum, I just sat on the floor day after day sorting through this box of buttons and organising them in to categories according to size and colour. Clearly there were some issues going on there…
If my Gran had taken me to All the Fun at the fair back then it would have been like finding my own personal nemesis. All the colours, all the buttons, all the disorganisation! Balls of wool and yarn hang from every corner, novelty tea cosies sit piled high like cakes on display and buttons collect in a large box by the window, recklessly unsorted in to sizes and colours.
Most people will love this shop and I would recommend it to anyone that was at all crafty or a big fan of knitting. Clearly however, I still have a few personal mountains to climb before I can group myself in that category.

I always make a beeline for this place when I come to London — the knitted cakes alone make it worth a visit. Jam packed with gorgeous yarns, patterns and quirky bits and pieces from independent designers; the staff are usually knitting when I’m there too, and you can always pick up handy hints and tips from them. It’s always a bit of a strain on the old pocket, though, as it’s so hard to resist all of the lovely stuff in there.

I’m not quite sure about the name but I am a fan of the store. This is a lovely little boutique inside of Kingly Court off of Carnaby Street. I bought my first knitting needles and yard here. The colour of my acrylic yarn made me very popular at my first Stitch and Bitch meeting. You can buy all the supplies you want for you knitting needs or you can buy already pre-​made items like knitted cakes, watering cans, or seasonal items like pumpkins or snowmen. They do schedule classes whenever they accumulate enough people, but you can just go to a local knitting meeting and learn for free.
