Food is average. Restaurant is one of the oldest and it is well established. Not much is out of the ordinary, good for lunch sarni.

Delicious, thick, warm, traditional salt-beef sandwich with mustard on light rye bread and perfect extra cole slaw in a nice and friendly little café with white table cloths. Highly recommended.

Best salt-beef in London, they said. Stay on the Northern line an extra 25 minutes, they said. Edgware, a thriving and bustling Jewish community, they said. Well, I gotta stop listening to whoever has been feeding me these lines of BS. Edgware is a poor-ish dump in North London populated by a whole medley of different nationalities, though probably most associated with Orthodox Jews. I figured, Golders Green is kinda cool, lets pop up to Edgware and get serious. Well, if Golders Green is the Jewish New Bond Street, Edgware is the Streatham High Road of the Ashkenazi Community. Salt beef was passable, but I really thought they used a cheap cut of meat(it was brisket, obviously, but like, cheap quality cows, meth cows), and it tasted slightly metallic(the last time I tasted this was when I purchased an entire brisket at Brixton Market at some weird vendor, though in my defence, I wasn’t aware of retail vendors at Smithfield’s at the time). Pickles were crappy, though the staff were super duper nice so I really feel like a dickhead typing this up.

They do the best Salt beef and Latkes around. Their latkes are huge. The Salt beef is usually quite lean, just the way I like it. I hate it when you have it with loads of fat. They always give you more than enough. I could feed 3 people with the portion for one sandwich. Its always full of older couples especially on a Saturday afternoon. They do a great coleslaw too. If you can’t eat in, get it to take away.

Not much to look at from the outside but don’t let that put you off! The portions are huge so make sure you only go when you’re ravenous! Seriously, the salt beef is to die for and is very reasonably priced. It’s only got a small seating area for about 20 people but you can also get take away. The staff are very friendly and it has a great atmosphere. Parking can be a little difficult as there are only a few bays on Whitchurch Lane and it’s near to the traffic lights at a major junction in Edgware so you may have to park a distance away but the food it worth it! I would point out that the food is Kosher style — the meat isn’t actually kosher but, if that doesn’t bother you — you’ll enjoy a great meal.
