Barclays Bank

Opened our business accounts here — easy process.
But ever since we have wanted to meet or see our relationship manager we have been told its over a months wait for an appointment. How on earth can a business operate like this with a bank who cant even service the accounts they handle?
We wanted to update signatories… but were given a number to call to get the forms emailed or posted — yet we couldnt do it in the branch that actually handles our account.
Our relationship manager never responds to calls. We want to get our account transferred to another branch. but this needs to be initiated by the relationship manager which we have to arrange… ourselves! But we can never get hold of her — its just a vicious circle.
I would avoid Barclays Bank if you are wanting to do any serious business.

Very conveniently placed for banking in Oxford Street area, but avoid like the plague for foreign currency exchange. Not only had the banking staff muddled up the buy and sell rates on all their currencies, but were offering a seemingly very respectable 1.204 euros to the pound (and what was obviously 1.29 buy rate), but when I reached the counter, the computer said 1.1204. When I finally persuaded the staff that both these rates could not possibly be right and with rather a long queue forming behind me, there were shouts from behind the counter of ‘who put up the rates this morning’? One young staff member admitted rather sheepishly that he had and that they were wrong. Barclays absolutely refuses to apologise for this outrage, despite the fact that anyone buying in the 4 hours since the bank opened had received considerably less than was marked on the board. I’ve had 3 letters from them telling me I must be confused and implying the incident never happened. You have been warned. You can get much better exchange rates from small currency exchange places dotted round the Soho area.

Surprisingly, I have always found this branch of Barclays, quick and painless. It is set out well enough and there is always a good supply of those blue pens that break within an hour of using one.
Whilst on the Old Compton Stretch of Soho, this is the nearest and fastest place to grab cash on a night out around town.
