At Black Vanilla we focus our passion and creativity to create our multi award winning, handcrafted gelato and sorbetto using the finest, fresh ingredients. Our dedicated team of chefs bring obsession and a wealth of experience to every spoonful, something evident from the first taste.

History

Established in 2011.

The owner of Black Vanilla, Susan Stretch, has two young daughters and as always been really careful about the food that we have given them. Susan’s grandmother, who raised 13 children, on a simple of diet of fresh, home cooked food inspired her to adopt the same approach with her girls.

Prior to setting up Black Vanilla Susan was visiting a large London department store and were shocked to see that many of the ice creams being sold were packed with sweeteners and colourings, something she heavily discouraged. Susan decided to create a product that we would feel confident feeding to her own children. The gelati and sorbetti created proved so popular with friends and relatives we started selling it in the heart of Blackheath Village and we’ve been there ever since. Today you can find the same gelateria quality in our range available from Ocado, Harvey Nichols and Partridges.
