Don’t — I repeat — don’t stay here. In my many travels over the last few years, I can safely say that this is one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in. It’s cheap(£45) and I mean cheap, not inexpensive. And it’s in a decent location, a short walk from Victoria Station and the theatre district. While I can say that I was greeted warmly and checked in by someone who knew his job, I should have turned around and left the instant I saw the room. The doors on the wardrobe are practically falling off and the thing is already rather wobbly. The door is paper thin, so the noise carries from the hallway. The bed is squeaky. The sink drips. The screen on the television is about 12 inches(and I never did turn it on to see what sort of reception there was). There is no desk or work area and I only found one(UK) electric outlet near the coffee service. The amenities are rather cursory. While the towel(yes, one) was clean, and the two bars of unwrapped soap left on it were unused, the bedspreads left me wanting a large can of Lysol. The sheets were very clean. The shower and toilet looked clean enough and the water was hot, though the toilet did take a long while to fill back up after flushing. But here are the real kickers. The window(second floor but with a roof next door for easy access) didn’t have a lock on it. One of the window panes was already well cracked. The water in the shower slowed and then literally stopped flowing about 6 minutes after I started. The control on the radiator was broken off. And when I returned from dinner(having not noticed much of the above at check in), the clerk(a different one) failed to ask me for any ID when I asked for my room key. At 11:30PM, I was simply too tired to deal with any of the above. I used one of the hangars(none matched each other, probably abandoned by previous guests) to «lock» the window and I McGuyver’ed it with a couple of the coffee service mugs so they would make a noise if someone tried to open the window. I jammed my suitcase against the door for s small bit of security. So… I can say it is my opinion based on the above: don’t stay here.
