History

Established in 1994.

Launched by MD Barrie O’Neil in 1994 as a graphic design agency based in Shoreditch, London.

Started a dedicated online division in 1998, where our first major development was for Moving Venue Caterers.

Started to develop an expertise for the Flash platform and quickly got a reputation for producing innovative well designed sites.

Bumblebee relocated to Greenwich in 2000.

This led River Island to ask Bumblebee to first redesign their second site and in 2004, redevelop the whole site in Flash. This was ground-​breaking at the time because it involved a Flash shopping basket.

The site went on to win several awards and Bumblebee continued to develop new e-​commerce techniques such as Living Page and The Selector.

In 2009, Bumblebee abandoned flash as a development platform and became a Drupal-​based web development agency. This has led to the company growing and creating a dedicated web marketing team.
