Surprisingly friendly staff,(Regarding the fact that most receptionists I’ve met in London are grumpy and not very helpful at all) good value if you don’t demand big rooms and supreme comfort. Located just 5 mins. walk from Camden Market. Subway just across the road, pubs, bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby. Small but clean rooms. But: Remember to bring your earplugs if you plan to sleep well, noisy street outside and thin walls.

This hotel was disgusting… Spend the extra money and stay in a place that doesn’t have stains on the walls and decent wifi. Couldn’t even spend the night… I felt icky sitting on the bed. Paid more money to stay somewhere else. That’s how bad it was. If you’re a dude that stays in hostels a lot… This is the place for you.

Dear People in Room 110, Each night I listened intently as you discussed where to go for dinner, which tube station to get off at and which bar to go to after. I did not enjoy the drunken conversations you had at 3am or the loud, all-night you-know-what. But, it is not your fault the walls are paper thin. The one thing this place has in spades is location. It is literally right across the street from the Chalk Farm tube and walkable to the main part of Camden. The staff are friendly enough, if not fairly indifferent. They did hold my luggage for me all day after I check out which was a plus. Also, the room was surprisingly clean and was tidied up each day(bed made, etc.) I would say that is where the positives stop. My biggest issue with this place was not how tiny the room or bathroom were, or that it took 10 minutes to get the shower to hot, or the old carpet and missing tiles, or even that the heater didnt work in February. The main problem for me was the door locks. There is no deadbolt or chain lock on the door. There isnt even a lock on the back side of the handle to lock yourself once you are inside. This means that anyone with a key can get in your room, or if you didnt shut the door hard all the way. As a female staying alone this really bothered me. In fact, I did not sleep well either night I was there because this was in the back of my mind. I wouldnt stay there again just because of this. If you are looking for a good location with a decent price in Camden and dont mind the very budget European accommodation, then this place is ideal, but if safety is a concern Id look elsewhere.

I ve been to the Camden lock hotel many times over the years. Yes it is not a glamourous hotel, it definitely needs some serious TLC and if you get one of the rooms that face the street than you are not going to have a sound night sleep, unless you are someone that can sleep anywhere in any conditions. But what really has going for it is the location you cannot really beat it, and for its price you cannot find anything else in Camden. So if you are not too fussy and you need it only for a couple of nights than it is worth it. Another plus is the friendly staff.

This hotel was GREAT for our stay! I def recommend it. The location really couldn’t be better– across from the Chalk Farm tube station– across from Enterprise, a totally fab pub, complete with fire place and Delicious food– and down the street from bars, shopping, Camden Market etc. It is near the northern line which was super convenient to get around from. We went out every night around shoreditch and took a cab home– about 10−15pds. The room itself was very basic– we are talking European budget hotel– two twin beds, private bathroom, a small hood to hang your clothing and a small dresser. All which were VERY clean, they also came in and to tidy up mid-day. The heat worked, the hot water worked– but we did have to time our showers either really early or before we went out for the night as the water was luke warm during«peak» shower times. The walls are thin but honestly this didn’t bother us in the least– we just slept right through(we also live in NYC so maybe used to it!) . My only one complaint is that the doors don’t lock from the inside– meaning there is no bolt. I have had a break in in my home so now I am paranoid every where I go. I got over it and it wouldn’t stop me from staying here again. A really great place to stay! I believe the total cost was about $ 500USD for the whole week!

Absolutely disgusting! The worst place you could possiby stay in. My friend once stayed there and couldn’t sleep at night as it was so dirty and falling apart. You’d be better off going to old school britannia hotel as they always will do you a good price if you just ask. Once saw Kate Moss leaving the Camden Lock though. The times when she was still with Pete and he was playing next door in a bar. Well I supposed she didn’t really care but the fact she had her daughter there as well worries me. Steer away from the place!
