It’s a pub. They serve drinks. Sometimes that’s all you need! I was in Soho with two of my colleagues and we just wanted to have a quick drink before dinner. Honestly, when I come to Soho these days I’m a bit overwhelmed by how hip and trendy everything has become. There’s lines to wait in, there’s cool people to convince that you yourself are cool enough to be served first and there’s just so much pretentiousness around that sometimes I just want to throw up! But I’m digressing… as I said, we were on our way to dinner in Chinatown and we wanted to grab a quick drink beforehand. Then the Carlisle Arms pops up in front of us and I instantly feel drawn towards it: it’s not busy, it’s not hip and the waiters are down to earth. Hallelujah! This is a place where you don’t experience anything else but a good pint of beer and a pleasant conversation with your friends… without screaming at each other!
