Terrible is all I can say. Worst service I have ever seen. Since they include a 12% tip on your bill they could care less. The food was a 1 out of 5. Nothing special. We tried over 12 items nothing stuck out. All the restaurants around them had been packed with a long waiting line, we go right in here. No wonder why. Stay away!

It was quite OK. Had a set with a college and the food was just enough for both of us. Fast service.

Visited China Palace based on Unilocal recommendations — what a find! The dim sum menu is vast and as a dim sum connoisseur I was slightly sceptical but I had no need to be. The scallop and prawn and chive dumplings in particular were fantastic! We also enjoyed a quarter duck and a few main dishes. I would definitely recommend u-don noodles with beef and black pepper — to die for! I wouldn’t however recommend the house white — not good. I will definitely be back!

Really like the selection of dim sum here. Fresh and tasty! Nice and friendly staff. They sometimes come and fill up your tea when they are not so busy. Could be quite crowded on the weekend though the waiting time was not too long. We only tried dim sum here, twice in a row! :-) They also offer a lot of other dishes and also catering for wedding parties perhaps.

Fresh food and very genuine Chinese — more like Cantonese style. Found this near the hotel we were staying — very little business — nothing going on at the Excel centre. Veggies were crisp, perfectly sauced and well done. Meat was ok, slightly salty though. Rice dish was the best(Yang Chow) ! Beer was cold and refreshing too. Parking is a pain — nothing available in front — had to park in back with employee cars. Guess the business they get is on foot traffic — they are next to the DLR railstation(Royal Victoria).

I have to be honest, I wasn’t too sure before getting in the restaurant(don’t know why to be fair, maybe due to the name, the place or the fact i had been walking in heels for far too long) But I was pleasantly surprised! The menu is quite extensive and we picked completely different items(for mains, had a duck dish and my partner had a whole fish) and we both enjoyed our food(and wine, of course). The staff was very helpful and very attentive which always helps. :)

I enjoyed coming here, and starting off with a few beers and the prawn & garlic starter which were cooked just right. I then moved on to a hot and sour soup. The broth was thick and spicy… just the way I like it. The menu items for the main meal is extensive, but even so I wanted something a little different, so I picked out the pork cutlets meal and asked if they could do it in a brown garlic sauce, add in some onion, garlic, peppers and make it good and spicy. I was a little apprehensive on what would come out but to me great joy, the dish was simply outstanding. The service was good, the portions were just right and the ambiance was nice. My only complain would be the beer was not as cold as I would have liked it, but it certainly did not detract from an outstanding meal. If I’m in this part of town again, I’ll sure be stopping on by and brining along several friends too!

We stayed at the nearby Crown Plaza and came here after recommendations from the hotel staff. The food is excellent. The service was good but not great. The overall space is large with nicer furnishings than a traditional chinese restaurant and best of all the bathrooms were very clean. We ordered hot and sour soup and crab and corn soup. Both came out piping hot and thick with meats and vegetables. Very good. The crispy aromatic duck(Peking duck in the states) was very good. Crispy skin and hand shredded table side, the meal was to die for. My partner ordered the steamed sea bass with ginger and green onion. The fish arrived whole and was de boned at the table however we still found some small bones in the fish. We enjoyed the rich flavor of the soy and oil sauce. I ordered the seafood fried noodles. The pieces if shrimp and scallop were large and tasted fresh. The noodles were golden and crispy. Add some chili oil and you’re all set. Overall one of my chinese best meals in this area.

This place has become my favourite place to eat in London. The first time I came here for dimsum it was quite enjoyable and so the next time I visited London I went for dimsum again. This time around, I went to this restaurant THREE times. Came here for dinner for the first time with my friend and we ordered — the XO sauce and duck fried rice: THEBEST — garlic stir-fried Chinese watercress(or what they call morning glory): SOGOOD — steamed minced meat with anchovies: not bad — beef casserole: not what. The portions are ample considering the price, which was about 9pounds a dish — i’ve eaten at chinese restaurants at leister square for the same price but half of the portions. and this restaurant is a lot fancier. Came here for dinner for the second time with three other people and we ordered — xo sauce and duck fried rice: had to do it again cuz it was that good — malayian styled chinese watercress(morning glory): the garlic was better but this one is still really good — mandarin ribs: i was not expecting this to be good, but it turned out to be my favourite dish that night – it’s fantastic — sweet and sour lamb chops: didn’t try cuz i dont like lamp — three-cup chicken casserole: not very good and didnt taste like the taiwanese version at all. The total this time was 60 pounds for the five dishes — not bad. Came here for dimsum again and now we know what we like here: — custard bun — bbq pork bun — black bean chicken feet — black bean steamed pork ribs on rice — beef rice roll(filled with beef) — steamed leek dumplings we generally try one or two new things here every time we come for dimsum, and here are the stuff that got elminated off of our list for next time: — lotus leaf wrapped chicken and rice(not very good) — pan fried leek dumplings(meh) Again, their«small» dimsums are £2.30, «medium» dishes are £2.60, large and special are in the £3’s. Our total this time is about £30.

The best Singapore noodles I’ve ever had. The suckers just melt in your mouth. The shrimp chips you get at the start of the meal are a nice touch and hard to stop nipping at while you await your food. The won ton soup is nothing to write home about, however. But every main we had was excellent. It’s a bit hard to figure out how to get in this place. But once you do, mmmmm. Good eating.

This is another DimSum joint my family enjoy frequenting because of the quiet atmosphere and the wait staff. However, when I visited on Sunday, the food wasn;t quite up to par this time round. The Charsiu Puff Pastry was a bit soggy, a bit disappointed with that! The XLB had no soup, but i guess it’s no dintaifung or crystal jade in asia, but I never expected it to be! The prawn dumpling skin was also a bit thick. I have noticed the prices have gone up too! Not particularly happy with that given the standard. Tip: Parking used to be allowed in the front of the restaurant, but not anymore due to Olympic things, but follow the directions to park around the back and there is a staircase leading to the back of the restaurant, it’s a bit of a maze but it’s easy to find. Also avoid on last weekend of May and October unless you’re here for the Expo convention, all the chinese teens manage to persuade their parents to have lunch and spend money on ticket entry to expo, so restaurant will be packed.

Great place for dim sum, and very good prices too. Portions are also huge, so you really do get the holy trinity of good food, great portions, and excellent prices. Eaten here a couple of times before, and the food is never disappointing, either dim sum or proper dinner. Service is quick too. Its a bit of a random location, next to the ExCel exhibition centre, but if you are ever there for an exhibition or show, do go here for a lunch or dinner! The London Insider

One of the best kept secrets in East London. Food is excellent and easily on a par with what you’d find in Soho and more expensive restaurants in nearby Canary Wharf, but at a fraction of the cost. Staff are friendly but a little distant. Décor is like you would find in Hong Kong and it’s not necessarily going to win any awards but it’s comfortable, spacious, and clean. But the really good sign is it’s filled with other Chinese and Asian diners. Always a good sign. The service is incredibly quick and top tip is Dim Sum on Sunday afternoon. A feast for two people and change from £25! Any of the steamed dumplings are incredibly yummy and fresh and the roast duck is amazing hot or cold. Don’t forget the Jasmin Tea.

Always a good sign when we see lots of asians eating at a chinese restaurant. It was a rainy day and the expo center wasn’t even busy but this place was. Hmm… another good omen? Yup it was! Dim sum was good here, made to order, meaning always hot. Even the fried foods weren’t too greasy which means they were fried at the appropriate high heat. Very good sign. The only drawbacks were because it’s made to order, we ordered our dessert, fried sesame rice ball filled with bean paste. After we finished. No! Order after everything has come out. Ours took so long, we thought they went out to the field to pick the rice, then mash, stuff, cook and fry. Cuz’ goodness! It took forever! Like a true chinese restaurant. They take only cash. No plastic. Get some before you get there, otherwise the closest is in the Expo center.

Excellent Chinese food. 3.9.10&3.11.10. I’ve had dim sum here: they have everything you could want, as well as some extras: such as Thai style, boneless chicken feet! Delicious and totally not what you’d expect as it is not braised. Also we’ve had a dinner of aromatic duck(it was my first time and it was delicious) and lobster noodles(I could have used more noodles but the lobster was so juicy, fleshy and covered in a savory sauce!). Add some garlic gai lan,. All were beautifully presented and delicious. Nice service. English, Mandarin and Cantonese spoken here. Décor is pretty standard for a Chinese restaurant, tons of red, but this place has a cozy feel with plenty of lighting at the tables. Prices = moderate.(It is London prices!) Parking, well I have no idea, except that there are signs saying that they have plenty of parking in a lot, so do not just ‘park it out front’, as it is a loading zone and taxis only. I went there today for a dim-sum lunch. We ordered 9 dim-sum in total and my comment on some of the food: Century egg and pork congee — too salty and not hot enough. The roast duck portion — the cracking was not crispy. Char-siu pastry — it was ok, better than penusula but not as nice as Lotus Zhaliang — again, the fried dough was not crispy enough(Lotus was better) Sticky rice in lotus leave — again Lotus floating boat was better All in all the dim-sum was not too bad, just that Lotus the floating restaurant is better(and probably just slightly cheaper too) The good thing is this place is nearer to me and there are plenty of parking spaces. The waiter were ok but the food did come very quickly. And the seating was comfortable and has an authentic Chinese feel.

All ran like clock work when I had a pleasant evening with friends there earlier this year. I arrived after the rest of my group and was informed that I had a parking space waiting for me at the front of the restaurant(free of charge). The place was buzzing — mostly due to the exhibition that weekend, but it all added to the atmosphere and everything we ordered was cooked well and tasted delicious. I’ll certainly give the place another visit when I’m in the area.

The China Palace is a new name for a Chinese Restaurant that used to be in the same location and which shut down /rebranded due to a number of problems. As the previous reviewer states there is a Karoke room downstairs and the décor is nice and positive, it’s also quite clean. Parking is also free and plentiful. Myself and two friends(both Chinese) went to China Palace for Dim-Sum on Sunday 04÷05÷08. The menu is large and there is a special offer menu. Prices are higher than some Dim-Sum places and service is put on the bill. Special offers though are good value. We ordered a selection of dishes including a couple of Chinese puddings. Things went wrong when the puddings arrived first(Mango dessert) followed by a gap. Then dishes arrived in dribs and drabs and the waiters got more and more confused as they marked dishes off our order list. After about five dishes we were told one we ordered wasn’t avilable. A clear situation of the kitchen not communicating with waiting staff. The worst was yet to come however. My friend ordered a prawn dish(a dish with a prawn and greens inside a wrap). The prawn was raw(I.E still white/blue) and hidden inside the wrap. She obviously bit into it without realising. When she noticied(because it was stone cold) we informed the waiter and what appeared to be a floor-manager. No one cared beyond a ‘sorry’, they cancelled the dish but still charged service. You can KILL people with raw seafood and my friend was ill,(throw-up) the same afternoon. If she was still unwell now then we’d be suing. I wouldn’t risk it again.

China Palace is my new hang out restaurant. I used to dine in Chinatown but this is now my new found Chinese restaurant. I have been first introduced to the place beginning of this year for Chinese New Year Reunion dinner with my auntie. I was a little skeptical about the place as I have not heard of it before. But the food turned out delicious, authentic and I felt very much at home! We had roast pork, stir-fry kai-lan with garlic, hotpot tofu and steamed fish all very healthy and just like how my mum would prepare at home. I have been to this restaurant countless times after that. Recent dish that I really enjoyed was the Steam mince pork with pickles and tofu, so yummy and I feel like having some right now! Dinners always come up to about £20 per person. As for the outlook of the place, the restaurant is located in a converted Docklands warehouse next to Excel exhibition centre, such hip setting for a Chinese restaurant. The interior is newly refurbished, fairly oriental with a hint of contemporary feel. Overall look is quite sleek and clean; a decent place for an everyday dinner. There are karaōke rooms downstairs and are available above a certain minimum spent. I haven’t tried it before but they look pretty decent to start with.
