This costa reopened at the tail end of last year as the brand new concept store Costa Fresco. I was invited along to check them out the week they opened to see what they were about. The concept behind the new store is bringing the focus back on food so that it’s seen as more of a café or a restaurant than just somewhere to grab a takeaway coffee. We basically got to try the entire menu and my favourite things were definitely the ciabatta swirls and the pastel de nata which were both to die for!

The layout of the costa looks really cosy. BUT. my iced soy mocha was hot. FAIL. Even Starbucks does better iced mocha and I don’t like Starbucks.

I can’t attest to Eric’s points about lack of WiFi and whatnot, but I did come here several times and… I just don’t like it. Then again, I don’t like Costa Coffee anywhere; not in the North, not by the sea, and not in London either. The taste of the coffee is so… bleh. There’s a gajillion coffee shoppes up and down this road. Pick another.

As an international traveller, I actually doubled-back to this coffee shop because I saw nice comfy couches to work in for a few hours on a Friday night. Once I paid for my coffee, I noticed 4 problems: 1) The skinny latte tasted like water 2) NOWIFI — really? In a café in 2012? 3) One men’s toilet with a line-up to get in 4) Closes at 8pm on Friday night. Really? Other than the comfy chairs, there was nothing here for me…
