After a rainy, dreary day of sightseeing, all I wanted was to have a warm meal and a glass of wine. Enter Del Azizz! Staying very close by, I had walked past the restaurant many times and seen it full of people — probably the consistently busiest restaurant in the area. I went in on a Sunday night, and saw they had a burger and wine deal for £10 — exactly my desire. The waiting staff were a bit slow. I had to wait for 10 or so minutes before I made eye contact with one waitress. I was sitting outside, and she kindly informed me that their weather forecast showed it was about to rain, so she quickly moved me inside. After this, service was efficient! The burger was amazing. The chips were amazing. The glass of wine was… Well really it was a glass of wine, I wasn’t too fussy on the finer details of that one! Paying was super easy, with the eftpos machine being brought to the table. Next time I’m in London, I don’t think I’d actively seek out Del Azizz to eat at(nothing so special that caught my attention — convenience and price were my two big factors!). In saying that, I would be happy to come back if the opportunity presented itself!

they stopped serving pasta because of a new italian restaurant that opened up. Food didn’t seem to have much flavor but ambiance was good. went on a weekday for lunch. Not very busy at the time.

After an unsuccessful hour of giving my daughter a little culture at the Tate Modern, I threw in the towel and we headed to lunch at the neighboring Del Aziz. Honestly, seeing as the restaurant was relatively empty, I didn’t have high hopes. But I’m happy to say this place was quite good! Service: Here is where I took off a star… servers were a bit confused, roaming around without any purpose when we were waiting for drinks, a clean glass, etc. Ambiance: This restaurant is beautiful. The décor is very pretty and the restaurant is clean. I almost took another star off because of the flies that congregate inside the entrance of the restaurant. But I understand that is a common problem here in London. Food: Excellent! I had the cod special with asparagus and it was perfectly cooked. My daughter had the lamb pita and loved it. My husband had chicken kabobs with couscous and loved it. We skipped dessert after much contemplation, simply due to the aforementioned flies that were also feasting on the cakes at the entrance. Overall: This place is reasonably priced and the food is excellent. I highly recommend it and would return.

I’ve been there for a Sunday Tea with friends after a long cold walk and we been delighted with amazing cakes and a very nice hot tea. The location is quite nice and they also let me charge my phone :) I will be back for sure!

Looked like a nice place but unfortunately both the food and service were not very good. It took 30 minutes to get hummus as a starter and tell us they didn’t have the other starter we ordered, plus the food was just ok. It has some potential because of the location and décor but no effort spent on service and little on food make it a place I won’t be returning to.

in London on a business trip, in an unfamiliar neighborhood craving something a little exotic but not wanting to travel far from my hotel, the Mercure London Bridge. This place was just right. I had the veggie meze some kibbeh and lebanese red wine. It was all quite good and the service was extremely friendly. I wish i had had room for dessert, I settled for a truly authentic pot of morrocan mint tea. Tasty, warm ambience, convenient to Bankside/Southwark neighborhood and reasonably priced. I left Del’Aziz completely happy.

Oh dear, Del Aziz, I had such high hopes for you. I was a frequent customer of the Del Aziz in Bermondsey a few years ago, and it never let me down. However, this branch feels like a very disappointing, knock-off version. We went in for dinner on a quiet Sunday evening, and there can’t have been more than 15 other customers. However, we sat at our table for approximately ten minutes before being given the menus(having had to ask for them). It just continued downhill from there. I ordered a(pricey) burger with extra tzatziki and cheese on top. Not an unusual order, I didn’t think. However, what actually came to the table were two plates — on one was a plain burger, and on the other was a separate bun with cheese and tzatziki(but no burger) in it. Work that one out. The food itself was overcooked and tasteless, and therefore completely unappetising. I can’t stress enough how embarrassingly awful the service is. The couple next to us ordered after dinner coffees which never came — and when they asked for them the waitress first had no idea what they were saying, and then had no recollection of their order. We were the only 4 people in there! It took them 35 minutes to clear our plates after we’d finished. We then had to flag someone down to ask for coffees(God knows why we stayed), but funnily enough the bill came quick as a flash. This really irritates me after a whole evening of slow service — it seems to indicate that the only important thing is getting money out of their customers. All in all a pretty bad experience that I’m in no hurry to repeat, at any branch.

The reviews for Del’Aziz were so good on here I was really looking forward to coming here for lunch with colleagues. I came away disappointed. Unlike other reviewers I didn’t think much to the service which was slow and inattentive. We were each handed three menus(food, drink, specials). These are a bit confusing for a first time visitor as there is a lot to choose from — mezze, grills and tagines, burgers, pitta, set sharing menus and the large tasting menu. The drinks menu is also quite substantial with a large choice of cocktails, wines, smoothies, juices and teas. After ordering some hummus and olives to share they brought a basket of bread to pick from. To be clear it wasn’t a bread for the table, it was a basket to pick bread from and then have it taken away, but they only supplied 2 plates between the 7 of us to share the sides on leaving me with just a napkin to use at the end of the table. The hummus was flavoursome though. The mains arrived in quite a staggered way. Upon delivery they told one person that they’d ran out of Merguez sausage for the Couscous Royale so had substituted it with extra chicken and lamb. I feel it would have been more appropriate to tell him this earlier in case he wasn’t happy with choice any more. I’d also wonder how they could already have run out of such a popular ingredient at the beginning of the lunch service. I had the chicken pitta which was not memorable. My drink — a strawberry smoothie — was very nice but I finished it before my main course and no staff asked if I wanted another drink(a pot of tea would have been great). Trying to catch their attention at any point seemed virtually impossible; no eye contact, no checks on how the food … As with most of the lunch, it took some time to request the bill, but I can give the restaurant one positive comment at this point. They asked if we’d like to pay together or have it split. This is very convenient for groups. Plus the waiter brought two card machines to the table so it could be processed quicker.

Honestly, during this vacay, I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Snarky’s choices of restaurants. I am usually the one called upon to provide the suggestions for food based on my Unilocaling skillz, but Mr. Snarky’s foodie skillz are pretty good! Again, he didn’t disappoint with Del’Aziz. What I like about the place… when it says Mediterranean it really does span the entire Med, not just Southern Europe. In fact many of the dishes that I saw were of the North African area of the Med. When I say I love all Mediterranean food… that’s what I mean. When you walk in, there is a beautiful spread of desserts to the left. The restaurant is nicely decorated but can be a bit difficult to get to some of the tables… like the one we chose in the window. Two tall people with long, lanky legs can be problematic. Our waiter was really nice, but you could tell the staff did not have a lot to do as they were tinkering(not always a good tinkering) on the piano that claims it is yours to play. We saw on the board that they have Belly Dancing at 20:30, so I was pretty stoked. Dinner and a show! We decided to start with the Mezze Platter… Pita with Tzatziki, Hummus, Meatballs, Lamb Sausages, Tabouleh, and something that looked like an eggroll. The Tzatziki was lovely and the Hummus actually had flavour! I say that because every time I buy some Hummus at the store, despite anything it says on the label, it is flavourless! The Meatballs felt like they were missing something… a spice, a kick… The Lamb Sausages were nice, but again I thought they would be spicy, but they weren’t. They were quite good with the Tzatziki. I didn’t really care for the Tabouleh because all I could taste was Parsley. The eggroll(I think it is call Lamb Boreck), was delicious! While it looked like a lot, between the two of us, I think it was just right, especially with the mains we ordered and Mr. Snarky’s insistence that we would be getting dessert… even if we had to take it with us. For mains, Mr. Snarky had the Couscous Royale and I ordered the Fish Platter. The Couscous Royale had three types of grilled meat served over Couscous in a red sauce that was very tasty. The Fish Platter had grilled Salmon, grilled Sea Bass, grilled Sardine, and two shrimp with a side of potatoes in a yellowish sauce. It was a bit tart and I thought there might be some Preserved Lemon in there. The Potatoes were great. I am not sure what kind of green sauce was drizzled over the fish, but it was good. A lot of food, but really good. 20:30 came and went with no Belly Dancing, so we decided to have a look at the desserts! They had cheesecake, chocolate cake, Red Velvet cake, brownies, fruit tarts, Bread and Butter Pudding… you name it, they have it! Mr. Snarky went with the vanilla cake that had slices of strawberries on top and through it. I went with the Bread and Butter Pudding. When they brought it out, I was a bit surprised that the Bread and Butter Pudding wasn’t warmed up, but it was delicious. Very, very rich with the chocolate and cherries. The Vanilla Cake was lovely, light, but rich and the strawberries were a great addition. I did order a mint tea, but because the original mint tea comes in a pot for two and Snark Butt didn’t want any, they just brought me a cup with a mint tea bag. Had I known that, I probably would’ve declined. That was probably the most disappointing thing of the night. Overall, I enjoyed the experience… sad that there was no belly dancing and also didn’t like the wait staff just wandering about with nothing to do.

Difficulty rating finding this place Level 5 – 6 Food rating 3.5 stars Drinks rating 7 I really want to give this 3.5 stars… What a lovely location so close to the Tate Modern, The beautiful Thames River, not to mention Borough Market and wineries and pubs. I was shown this place by a new Unilocaler for drinks and cake. Can’t beat that for a midday snack. I had the Pear Tart which wasn’t as good as I had hoped. The cream filling tasted a bit sweet and generic, the pears and the flaky crust were lovely, but the cream bit on the bottom did not float my boat. Friend had the bread pudding which was the clear winner. Made with cinnamon, chocolate bits, lovely swirls of bready bits and it was just gorgeous. Paired with some lovely cucumber gin drinks that were exceptional. I would definitely go again.

I had a hard time finding this place. But happy I finally did. So far I have eaten the lovely brunch foods. And had the tasty espresso. I chose an egg and mushroom, kind of veggie fry up type dish. Nice waitress replaced scrambled eggs for poached and the toast was fat and yummy. Was kind of strangely plated with everything neatly separate from each other(seriously there were like five things on my plate and nothing was touching). Nice friend let me scrape up the leftover hollandaise on her plate with my fat toast. Yum I am ordering that next time. Cute surroundings. It’s also kind of a store? They sell tea and spices and international«Moroccan» goods but the shelves are in between tables and you’d have to scoot around eating people to get to them. awkward. Beautifully scrumptious looking dessert/pastry widow display near the front door. drooollll. Will be a nice place to take friends before or after a Tatey adventure. Very close to the gallery.

Expect a perfectly scrumptious brunch, as any hollandaise-packed menu would provide. And Del Aziz’s hollandaise did not disappoint in all its deliciously fattening glory. The enormous meringues on display in the Saturday-morning window tantalised me upon approach, but the Eggs Royale won me over in the end. So, wait — you ask — isn’t this a Moroccan* joint? What’s up with the foodstuffs beloved by brunch-goers and Frenchies alike? I don’t know, my friend. I don’t know. Maybe it’s something to do with colonialism. But it’s magical. You can stuff your face full of brunch and drink your weight in bloody marys here at the weekend. Al-hamdu-lillah**. _____________________________________________ *Actually, it’s a Mediterranean/North African/Middle Eastern establishment. Maybe you should stop being so ignorant and racist, yeah? **Praise be to God.

Oh Del Aziz, what a pointless little place you are. And with decent competition around, that’s a risky game to play. First off, they served me stale cake. I know my lemon cake and theirs was two days old. The only reason we didn’t complain was the service was so slow and disinterested that we didn’t have time. And the boy is less fussy about cake than I am. They charged us about four quid for that cake. It’s up there in the ranks of some of their worst I’ve had in London. Tea was alright, but that’s tea from a bag so not exactly brain surgery. And the crockery is nice too. The faux Moroccan thing is annoying, rather than appealing. It feels fake, and it is. But, the boy pointed out that him and his colleagues eat here a lot because while the service is always bad, they do vegetarian AND halal food, so if you’ve got a mix of tastes all trying to get dinner, it’s not a bad option in that respect. Just make sure you have a lot of time on your hands, and don’t order the cake.

I went here with a few work friends and found it to be a bit lifeless. They only had two beers to choose from none of which I had heard off. All in all we had a good laugh but it wasn’t because of the establishment. However Gok Wan was there which gave the place a little bit of credability. I would only visit this place again if they were giving away beer for free totally boring! Im only giving it a 1 star because ½ of a star aint available.

I hesitated when I booked this restaurant as the reviews below aren’t overwhelmingly positive, but the place turned out to be perfect. I had a dinner here for 12 and was lucky enough to receive the very generous 2−4−1 beer and bottled wine promotion(which I think is available to tables over 10). Most people opted for the set menu for around GBP20, which included two starters, a main and a dessert. I loved my starters and dessert, though the main(a red pepper stuffed with couscous) was a bit bland. One of the desserts — a giant meringue! — also didn’t go down so well. As it was a birthday dinner, the belly-dancing entertainment that was provided at around 8.30 went down a real treat. I thought the music throughout the evening perfect(a blend of middle eastern/north African tunes) and the décor was superb. The service was also fab — attentive and friendly without being intrusive. All my guests gave top feedback too, billing the night an all-round success. One of the only drawbacks is the area it’s in, which I feel is quite a soulless concrete jungle. That being said, there are quite a few bars to kick onto.

Del Aziz was a warm, cozy comforting treat for this thin blooded Angelino after braving a cold winter’s day in London. This is a popular Lebanese spot that is great for groups and post-work dining. I had the Mezza plate which included a little bit of everything(hummus, cucumber raita, tabbouleh, cheese in filo, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, etc.) The chicken«shish» was very flavorful and the couscous was the highlight of the dish. While it is an odd sight on the drink menu, Del Aziz’s signature mojito with limoncello, absolute, mint, lemonade and lime was a refreshing way to wash down my meal. Service is a bit slow, so just roll with it and enjoy yourself. Better yet, linger over a pot of tea at the end of your meal. On a winter’s night, this will fortify your trek back into the cold.

After a grueling morning looking at conceptual and pop art at the Tate Modern, we came to Del Aziz for a refuel– mainly because we saw the pretty cakes through the window and the place my friend suggested was in fact closed. Del Aziz offers brunch until 5pm on sundays and with about 20 teas to choose from, it took these two tea obsessed, art– out dears about ½ hour to decide what to eat. No worries, the waiters were patient. There was nothing wrong with my egg florentine per say, but it wasn’t mind blowing either. After we got over the hump of me wanting my poached eggs extra rare as the waiter thought it came with scrambled eggs(indeed they came with the yoke barely cooked), I thought that it was slightly under-seasoned and the brioche not toasted enough(should I have been picky and asked for it to be done medium– well?). And obviously as with most hollandaise sauce there was that tacky dirty feeling your teeth gets afterwards. I did like the toilets though, fully red tiled and pretty clean. Would I come back? Probably. Would I make a special trip for it? Probably not.

Wow. I’m starting to be quite the fan of Canvey Street. With top notch Tsuru, the Refinery, Viva Verdi and Del’Aziz all nuzzled up next to each other in the shadow of Tate Modern, you really can’t go wrong. I think the Mediterranean comptoir feel of Del’Aziz. I like their baked goods(a lot!) and think they provide quality products in a quality setting. Hardly outrageous, prices are on the expensive side but I suppose you’re paying for the aforementioned quality. My experience has been that service is very good here as well. This as well as the other Del’Aziz locations are definitely ones to put in the reliable standby category. You can’t go wrong and there’s something on the menu(or in the deli for everyone).

Del’aziz describes itself as a Mediterranean delicatessen & brasserie. The Bankside branch is one of several eateries which have suddenly appeared in the vicinity of the Blue Fin Building. As this is a new development it still all feels a bit bare and anonymous. I went with a friend who works in the area and remembered the first beginnings with dreadful service. On our recent visit, this had definitely improved. As it was a very busy lunchtime and we were the only people opting to sit outside, we had to wait a little while to be served. But when we later changed our mind and moved indoors after all, staff couldn’t have been more helpful — this must be the ultimate nightmare as we probably missed up all their records, rota and responsibilities Once inside we were surprised at the size of the place and chose a table on the mezzanine level. You soon forget the urban landscape outside. We had a selection of tapas/mezze style starters. They were OK(but not exciting), and unfortunately, they forgot the hummus. As mains we both opted for chicken sandwiches which were lovely — actually they were so filling, we needn’t have bothered with the starters. Del’Aziz is definitely one of the better choices in the immediate area. Not sure if it would work in a more established environment with more attractive competition. They probably do quite well due to the increasing number of businesses setting up in the neighbourhood, so more of a business than a pleasure treat.
