this is a brilliant place. i’ve been several times now — usually intending to just drop by for a drink on the way home and ending up dancing all night on the beds! oops, it’s starting to feel like home. everyone’s just so nice, and DJ Sam Young rocks!

I was invited to Diva Beach for a friend’s birthday drinks. Not usually my scene the mini clubs of Kensington and Chelsea but for a friend, what can you do? On arriving we were pressured into checking all our stuff into the cloak room(something to do with the diminuative size of the club itself one assumes) and entered into a room full of dolled up, overpaid(i assume based on the drink prices) youngsters. Everything was white with circular cut-outs and trendy metallic bead curtains. The music was ok, i remember some Michael Jackson well mixed. The waitresses were in corsets. And not in a foxy, alternative, rocky kind of way. I wanted to leave as soon as i arrived. About 10mins after that my best friend and her editor arrived at the door and were refused entry on the grounds they were not the right kind of people despite being on the list, wearing appropriate attire and being gorgeous. The door staff were so unbelievably rude that they almost ruined the rest of the evening by making these two beautiful professional young women furious. I won’t lie, i was really rather pleased they didn’t get in as we went somewhere else up the road and had a much nicer time there instead.

Swankeeee. Club/lounge in Chelsea. If you like a Chelsea crowd, recommended. If you don’t like a Cheslea crowd, avoid this place like the plague. Went on a Wed. night with a group of my favorite and fun West-End friends and it was a mix of über-swank wanna-be dressed as hipsters, professionals desperate for action, and some people with dresses plastered on to their bodies to show off cleavage.(My friends were the only cool people there). I was scorned for living in God-forbid Islington by a guy who I let buy me a delicious fruity drink who had in 6 years of living in London had never been to Islington or Shoreditch. Enough said. The place is inspired by South Beach(but of course there is no beach in Chelsea!) and yes, it was hot as Miami as we pseudo-danced with the dj who had somehow remixed Journey, Guns and Roses, and Van Morrison into some type of loungy-beyond cool but totally lame music.
