DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London – Hyde Park

I travel frequently for work and been doing so for 16 years. I have had good concierge experiences BUT this one tops them all by 10 folds or more!
Amir will be the very reason I would return to this hotel again. He just exemplifies excellence and pride in his work. I can sense his passion for helping his guests and has utmost sincerity.
I came to London this time to drop off my younger son to attend a university semester. Amir not only helped us with our tour, but arranged an exception for me to continue my tour on another day. He even offered my son to call him should he need anything while in London. Amir made us feel so special and like family. Amir, THANK YOU for all that you do!
To the Doubletree executive team… this is a man that should train all your concierge and you will immediately see a spike in return clients.

My husband and I had an amazing four-​night stay here in early May 2015.
We arrived at the hotel a couple hours earlier than usual check-​in time, after a grueling 9 hour flight (worst flight ever, hands down) and a white-​knuckle drive from Heathrow in our rental car. Checking in, I was smelly, worn out, and felt very grumpy, but staff at the front desk were cheerful, friendly, professional, and accommodating. The warm, gooey chocolate/​toffee cookies that the gal at the front desk handed us were the best things that had happened to us that morning/​early-​afternoon. The fact that we were a little early was no problem; they checked us right in.
Our room was nice and cool, very quiet, and spotless. The bed was soft and comfortable. While the rooms are a little smaller than the average American hotel room, my husband and I had plenty of room. There was a good selection of coffees and teas in the room, as well as some awesome smelling bath items in the bathroom. Housekeeping was on the ball each day, restocking and doing a great job. Free Wi-​Fi is offered onsite.
The hotel has parking onsite, underground, but you do have to pay for it — 25 British pounds per day. It was totally worth it (and I appreciated it all the more after staying in a hotel in Dublin a few days later with no parking onsite). We ended up not needing the car at all, since London’s public transportation is so awesome! There is an elevator from the parking garage up to the lobby area, so transporting our luggage up to the room was very easy.
There are two Underground stations within walking distance, and the hotel itself is in a very good area — close to Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, and Notting Hill. We had a great time walking around the area, visiting the pubs and taking the tube everywhere.
The hotel restaurant — Urban Meadow — was also very good; the food was traditional with some variety (burgers, pork chops, steaks, lamb, curry, etc.). We had dinner there at least two nights, and breakfast every morning but one. They have both a traditional English breakfast buffet (about 13 British pounds), but you can also order a-​la-​carte, which is great if you can’t eat the full traditional breakfast.
One of the best things about our stay was the staff, especially at the restaurant. Every single person I saw that worked at the hotel was always smiling, always saying hello, always welcoming. Paula in the restaurant always made sure to come over and say hello and ask how our day had been. We had such an awesome time there, I was extremely sad to have to leave.
I highly recommend this hotel, whether you’re staying for just one night or several.

modern hotel and it is close the subway stations. There are many restaurants around the area that are walking distance.
The room itself is very clean. You get free bottled water and nespresso coffee in you room. The bathroom is nice and clean; the only thing i would complain about is the shower. The shower has a half class door, so you can get water everywhere in the bathroom when you’re using the shower; also where you are standing, it’s not a tub, it’s a 3 inches high tub — i was so scared that the water would overflow because the drain wasn’t working too well.
I think the room is spacious enough for two people. Sure it is a bit small, but you’re in london — so for london size, i think the room is quite good.
I would definitely stay here again the staffs are nice and friendly, free wifi, and the location is great!
we got complimentary breakfast daily and it was the perfect way to start our day!

Perfect location, modern and comfortable hotel, great staff.
We stayed here this past week for 3 nights. Impressed by staff– very professional and courteous, showed us a second room when the first we were shown was really small and had a tv at right angles to the bed– how you would watch that I have yet to figure out. Our next room was perfect, really nice furnishings, quite luxurious and modern style, far better than i had expected for the price. A small problem with my missing Prada glasses was dealt with in the most professional way– having searched our room we thought they had been stolen, staff came immediately to help search, checked with cleaners, linen service etc– handled it in the nicest way possible. After we finally found them they were again most courteous and kind. The hotel is on a busy road– perfectly located across from Kensington Gardens and 5 minutes walk from Notting Hill tube and Portobello Road– but ask for a quiet room if traffic noise bothers you.
We would definitely stay there again when in London– we live in the Bay Area and are used to nice hotels– this one definitely exceeded our expectations.

This is a true and honest assessment of my time at the Doubletree Hyde Park. My rating is based on my total stay taking all things into account.
We started out 2 week holiday with out arrival into London Heathrow on the 7^th of July. I had previously setup through the hotel to have a car service pick us up at the terminal and take us to the property. The driver (third party company) was there and we had a great experience with this. The downside was that the cost was £70 to arrive from Heathrow. This is pretty steep but is worth the ease of travel with luggage. I will talk more about this later though. (As I’ve found out we have been stiffed by the hotel for £30 per trip when the cost should have only been £35 total).
Upon arrival we were able to check into the hotel without any issue and went up to our room. The hotel has been recently (last 12 months) taken in by the Hilton brand and received an internal refresh. The rooms are all nicely done with large flat screens and ample space for two people to stay without any issues. There is even an Nespresso machine for morning coffee in all the rooms. The bathroom have nice large body towels and there are the usual Hilton branded soaps and body washes.
Each room has a fridge and also a water boiler if you’d rather have tea as opposed to coffee. The rooms also include an iron and board if you need to tidy up your outfit prior to going to a meeting or out for the evening to one of the many local pubs or eateries.
The hotel has a restaurant on the first floor, if you have a breakfast included in your room charge this is where you can go in the morning to get your continental style meal. The meal is not bad overall (fresh eggs as opposed to the powdered would be much nicer) and when ordered at the counter you can also have a fresh espresso or latte to go with your meal. We learned over the multiple days of our stay that the folks acting as servers (especially if you choose to sit outside) will not give you a second look or care if you are not a ££ paying patron) This is where things started to unravel for the overall rating at the property.
We were staying during the Semi-​finals and finals of the World Cup (7 – 14 July). So the traffic into the restaurant was maybe a little heaver than normal during a week night, but it was by no means crowded in the area that the TV was located. The first night we arrived and were greeted by someone other than wait staff and were told to sit anywhere we liked. Once we decided on a table (centrally located in front of the TV) we then waited almost 15 minutes before the waitress that was serving tables around us acknowledged that we were waiting to order drinks and food. She seemed very disgusted that we had sat down and that we were a bother to her. After ordering drinks and food we then waited for another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive and about another 10 for the initial food to arrive. That was basically how the night continued. There was basically no service as either I or my wife had to get up to ask for drink refills.
I had chosen during my last stay in London (Hilton Hyde Park property) to use the concierge desk to book us a car service to get from and to the Heathrow airport. No I was told the service cost was £65 flat rate and I didn’t question this charge as it paid for the drivers parking at the airport and also the trip. Not knowing what I should be paying when it came to a taxi or just in general for this service I didn’t really question it. This all changed when I was asked by one of our drivers who I booked the service through. When I told him he then expanded and gave me the direct line to the service which, on my final departure only cost me £35 when booked directly through the company. I fully understand that there should be a charge from the hotel for booking a service through the desk, but to effectively double the price is simply robbery. A £5 difference is in my opinion ok to charge for this type of service, especially when all they do is make a 3 minute call.
We departed from our first stay here on the 14^th and returned after a week in Germany on the afternoon of the 19^th or July. When I walked up to the desk I was greeted promptly and checked in. However there was no mention that I had just been there or that I was a Hilton Diamond member. Now that’s not what really started this stay off wrong, what was not mentioned prior to checking in, and there was no sign to alert people about was that the entire building with the exception of the lobby and the 1^st floor was without Air Conditioning. The buildings been that way since late the evening prior and they were to quote the lady at the desk «working on it». There was however no ETA for it to be repaired and when you got to the room there is no way to open the windows to vent the rooms. The initial room I was given was on the top floor as I requested and on the east side of the building. The temp was 32C in the room.

Stayed here one night for a nearby annual dinner. Only eat breakfast, of which there was a good selection. Room was comfortable, location of hotel was perfect and staff were friendly. Hotel looked new.
When I signed in I was given a warm cookie in a bag, which was unexpected but welcome.

We stayed here for 5 nights recently and I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel and its staff.
The staff was warm and friendly. The rooms are clean and cozy. The hotel is located walking distance between two tube stations, lots of coffee shops, pubs, and Portobello market. Every time we visit London, this is where we will stay.
