Duchamp

A simply dreadful customer experience trying to order from them online and having it shipped to the USA.
Nowhere in the purchase process was it made clear that the package would arrive with a cash-​on-​delivery request for customs duties. I’ve twice ordered from their neighbor down the street, Charles Tyrwhitt and customs duties were never an issue.
And it wasn’t cheap either. The duty was about 20% of the value of my order, and since Duchamp shirts are not cheap, it worked out to over $ 50.
Worst of all was the response from Duchamp. «We’ve never had a complaint about this before.» They pointed me to a buried page on their web site that made a vague mention of paying customs for countries outside the UK. No acknowledgment that this was not clear in the order process, and no offer to cover this additional fee for my order.
So I refused delivery and sent the package back. Given how I was treated, I expect they will try to stick me with the shipping charge for this aborted order. But if they do, I will contest the charge with my credit card company.
I don’t care how great their wares are, with awful customer support like this, I would never, ever consider patronizing them again. Never.

Only a 250sq foot store, but what a great location. I have been to several of their stores and I love their style. They were also kind enough to call around and help find shirts in my size and I’m a big guy. I appreciate that they offer my size, most high end fashion retailers don’t. Plus great sales in January.
