My first breakfast in London and boy did it not disappoint. This place was FANTASTIC. Oh my god what a diamond in the rough. Small cozy smells like mmmmmmmmmm Delish !!! Fresh baked pastries, bread and coffee aromas fill the air. The owner and his family are there to greet you the second you step inside. Ask to see their photo album, the list of celebrities who have eaten there are quite cool. Coffee was perfect, breakfast was spot on and their homemade special recipe bread pudding is TO DIE FOR!!! you’ll kick yourself for weeks if you leave without trying it. Enjoy

There’s a wait if you get there during prime hours but so worth it. Best English breakfast I’ve ever had and the staff is super friendly.

Every time when I visit a restaurant or café, I always judge it by their services first. I don’t care whether the place is a fine dining one or just a fast food place. It is essential if you want people to come back. And I reckon this place has done an excellent job. It really made my day when I came here for breakfast.
I can totally see why this place is always crowded. Very good and friendly waiters. Very good and fulfilling breakfast as well. The americano is excellent! I definitely recommend it to those of you looking for a good meal with some rich heritage.

Wonderful place for an English breakfast. Was here last summer and had the best time. The owners are very welcoming and can really strike up a conversation with anybody and the food was just great. A little walk from the tubes but we’ll worth the trip.

Crowded and loud and thoroughly fun. The breakfast was excellent and so was the unexpected fun of sitting with strangers in the crush.

Terrible breakfast — cheap ingredients badly cooked. Pale eggs. Soggy white toast. Mushrooms swimming in grease.
I stand by this. Regardless. The mushrooms were swimming in oil. The black pudding was dry and cold. The eggs were pale pale yellow. I didn’t eat a sausage so can’t comment.

So worth the wait (there will definitely be a wait during peak times!) and easily the best and most memorable breakfast I had during my stay in London. Get the Full English-it’s only £6 and I couldn’t finish it all. The interior is full of charm and the owner/​staff were all wonderfully friendly-​we were shown an album of famous people who’ve visited the place, and we also received complimentary bread pudding on the way out! Can’t wait to come back!

I call it the Regency Café of the East due to its legacy and authentic experience.
Went this morning for their Full English. very satisfying meal for just £6. Tremendous old school charm with a family team running the operations, and are louder than the diners themselves. I love the art deco touches that I assume have been kept for several decades. Not a five star because of the rather inconsistent service/​friendliness, but I’d be more than happy to return with a friend.

Our favourite restaurant in London — every trip here feels like coming home to family! Cant recommend their sandwiches and breakfast enough, and all very affordable! Full of loads of history and they do everything they can to make sure you feel right at home. Love it!

Amazing chicken pie! This place has great food but the atmosphere makes the place a local staple.
They are so sweet and really make you feel like your part of the family.

If you are front the states, think of this as a Cheers Style diner. We walked in upon a few recommendations from the locals.
Turns out the Pelllicci family has owned and operated this restaurant for 100+ years. At 3:00 PM, this place is PACKED. And I mean filled to the brim, yet somehow the staff there still made us feel welcome and at home. We were seated with random strangers which was uncomfortable.
Since we were in England, we ordered the English Breakfast. Food wise, it was a classic «diner» feel. But the service, oh man are those guys awesome. This is exactly what 100 years of pride and joy amount to… amazing service.
Each of the staff stopped over to see how we were doing and chatted with us for a few minutes while we were away. I immediately felt like they were my new friends. We were even given complimentary bread pudding made by their mom to go.
I never felt more at home and more welcome in a café before. The food is good, above standard but its worth the experience.

From the moment you walk into the small café and here a mix of East London English and Italian being seamlessly interwoven; you know you are in for something memorable. If you love great affordable food with a warm and charming atmosphere; you must eat here!
The food was fantastic. After decades of cooking day in day out one would hope that to be the case. Luckily for us, they have a burning passion here for making delicious food and happy customers that is palpable. You will walk away with a huge grin and a full stomach, guaranteed!
Family owned and operated, and what a dynamic and lovely family they are.
Anna, one of the daughters, sat me down got me a spot of tea, and helped me to decide on the classic English breakfast. Which is a sausage two slices of ham, a tomato and an egg on top of a piece of fried bread. It was love at first bite. I ate everything and was supremely satisfied. The only sad part was that I had no room left for one final Doner Kebab before catching my flight at Heathrow! This was however a very fitting final meal in London.
Not so normally reserved, I sat and took in all the sounds and smells. The conversations between the staff and the regulars. One of those great small moments when you feel like you’ve wandered into a film and are just a member of the audience. Of course, non-​participation isn’t an option in a café which could seat maybe 25 people with 4 very active and friendly staff.
I looked on while Anna shouted orders in italian between kitchen and staff; then chatted with her customers in her lovely East London accent.
Nev, the son came out from the kitchen to have a bit of fun and chat with the customers that had come in.
One such table were a group of Medi-​Helicopter crew wearing bright orange emergency gear. Two local brits and two observers one Kiwi and one from Texas.
Brit:“I want you to meet my boys here they’re from, New zealand and this one He’s from Dallas. Have you ever been to Dallas?“
Nev:“No, Thank God!” (everyone laughs) «But I did very much enjoy watching it on the Tele growing up!» Ah, british humor…
Anna:“So you are here as observers, are you?” They nod. Well, let me tell you how it works. You’ve just finished up your breakfasts and so any second now; just as it’s time for the bill to come there’ll be an emergency call coming in and you’ll all have to leave unexpectedly!” (laughs around) Her tone went from joking to sincere, «Seriously though, Thank you for what you all are doing. It’s a great service that you do for everyone!»…
Seated at Another table were two female students from China. Nev greeted them with his best «Nin hao!» and then proceeded to ask them if they’d like to meet his Mum. Mom of course works in the kitchen and was more than happy to stop what she was doing and say hello to the girls. After that he began to try to convey some of the areas gangster history through broken English and hand gestures. One theme of the morning chatter was that of the Kray brothers whom are portrayed in the new movie «Legend» by Tom Hardy. According to Nev they used to come here for breakfast very regularly; and I can see why.
Anna, greeted each and every customer as they arrived and as they left. Thanking them for their patronage, and encouraging them to return with a genuine love and appreciation. Something that was not as common as I had expected in other places I came to in London.
Recognizing that I was a tourist; she offered me some free chips on the side which were fantastic. Who is going to say no to free chips???
We had a lovely chat about the U.S. and her last holiday to Florida with the family. As I was readying to leave, paying the bill and such (which was a ridiculously cheap 6 pound and change) She insisted on giving me a slice of freshly baked bread pudding straight out of the oven by Momma herself. I declared that I was stuffed and would pop if I took it, but she insisted and I ate it later before getting on my plane. What a dear.
This place is a gem, not to be missed while you’re in London!

One of my favorite places I visited on my last trip to London. Nevio was our server and he was incredibly friendly and definitely left a lasting impression on me. Saw this listed in Serious Eats best place for an English breakfast and it was one of the best I’ve had. Food, service, and experience were perfect! Would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area but I wouldn’t come with too large a group since the place is a bit small.

This place has been called a gem by almost every reviewer now, but it’s for real! Family run, with the owner managing, bussing, chatting, taking orders and doing it all in the dining room like it’s his own house. Always had the warmest welcome here — the first time, we were given complimentary bread pudding made by his mom to go, and the second time he was showing us photos of his baby daughter on his phone. Food is fresh, home cooked and fantastic, all in a throwback atmosphere. Funny mix of older regulars, young locals and, increasingly, tourists.

Great spot, and one of the best places to eat the full English breakfast and Italian food in London for the last 100 years!
This little café is situated in one of the most multicultural and gentrified London neighbourhoods. You just have to stop at Bethnal Green underground station and just walk for a mile or so in the main road.
The café is very, very little and can be quite packed with costumers at lunch hour. I have to say that the staff (they were all part of the same family) was very friendly and engaging. They were able to speak different languages and really entertain the costumers! Even my brother accidentally encountered the grandmother of the owner — who also happens to be the chef of the restaurant — and they even had a little chat together. I will never forget the service!
The food was excellent. We all ordered the full breakfast which tasted like no full breakfast I’ve tasted before. Everything looked fresh and cooked to perfection. The apple crumble and the black coffee were also delicious.
At the end of our meal, the waitress gave us a slice of home made cake her grandmother made specially for new costumers. She said we should try their freshly made pastas the next time we eat there. I can’t wait to eat there again somewhere in the future.
Overall, this is a very authentic and genuine place to eat Italian food in London, and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the city.

One of the top 3 breakfasts in the world!: would put it #2 on my list, behind Bryant’s in Memphis, Tennessee and just ahead of The Omelet House in Las Vegas. Way better than average «full» breakfast. Why? Mainly because they know how to cook tomatoes. I know it sounds silly, but they get so much flavor out of them than anywhere else. Black pudding also better-​than-​average.
Also, I really like places that like to say «Yes.» This place will basically say yes to any order if they’ve got the ingredients. Why aren’t more places like this?
While the breakfast tea is, again, way better-​than-​average, they also know how to make a proper espresso. No visit to London is complete without a visit here.

Great spot. Very friendly, engaging service. Good and hearty food served in generous portions. Good value. The place can get pretty busy — it’s relatively small — so don’t be surprised if you show up and need to wait. Overall this place is a real gem, and absolutely worth seeking out.

Everything was… okay, I guess. Not overwhelmingly impressed but I’m not sure I would have known it was «great» if I wasn’t told about it beforehand. Alternatively: it wasn’t «cheap» enough to get around it being noisy, etc.

I wasn’t leaving London without a proper English breakfast. As the waiter/​cook/​son of one of the chefs told us, this place blew up in popularity after Anthony Bourdain mentioned it in his London episode of The Layover (S1E9). However, when Bourdain sits down to eat eggs on fried toast, it’s actually at a different place, which is a bit misleading. I can see why though — E Pellicci is a bit on the small side, but not without charm. It’s been around since 1900 and it has a hand-​carved wood interior. Luckily for us, there’s also outdoor seating (about 5 tables). We went with the modestly priced full English breakfast (which included white sausage, bacon, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and a fried egg on fried toast) with the addition of black pudding. With a cup of tea, it totaled just 7 GBP. A fine deal. The sausage and the mushrooms were the best parts, but be warned — you definitely need to come hungry because it’s a hefty meal. Not for the faint of stomach.
The employee who I mentioned earlier (Liv) also struck up a conversation with us about America and NYC, and would not let us leave without a generous sample of his mom’s bread pudding. Super nice guy. I wish them continued successes well into the future!

This place is way off the beaten path. It’s located in west London in what appears to be a quiet and cultured neighborhood. I took the 8 to get there (from Wormwood) and got there shortly after 9am. For me, it was a little hard to find because they had the roof down (light drizzle) and a farm vendor was setup right in front (the bus stop is RIGHT across the street).
Once i found it, I walked in to find only locals… I figured this since they all turned to look at the Yank that appeared without a jacket on and full backpack (plus, I had the «American» accent). I decided to «stop» at a table outside and proceeded to order the Full English and tea with milk. It was classic, grilled stem mushrooms, grilled tomato halves, sausage, bacon (which isn’t cooked to a crisp like us American’s like) and a thick slice of toast with an egg over easy. You will walk away full and content, it will keep you going for hours as you walk around the British Museum (which is what I did…). Simple meal with simple flavors, add pepper if desired.
For 10 quid, you can’t go wrong. You get to experience the ‘burbs of West London and chat it up with the locals (I met 3 locals in a boxing club, to which they invited me!). A must go if visiting London!
