Earlham Street Clubhouse

I celebrated my birthday here! Such an amazing environment and loved the old songs that played. 5−7pm was happy hour and for Covent Garden it meant the drinks fro £6. The pizza’s are amazing here too. If you’re a cocktail and pizza lover I would definitely recommend this. All my friends and I had a lovely time. The only thing is that i’s a bit cramped on a Saturday night.

Famous on the blogging scene for its 90’s themed cocktails and epic New York style pizzas this place did not disappoint! With the mismatched décor and laid back atmosphere this place reminded me a lot of our secondary school common room where I have so many good memories!
There’s a small selection of pizza toppings, again with great names, and if you can’t decide what you fancy most you’re welcome to Ross and Rachel (half and half) one of the 20″ ones with two different choices.
We went for the Super Mario on one side (tomato, mozzarella, spicy homemade meatballs & pecorino cheese) and The Ferris Bueller (tomato, mozzarella, chilli chicken, spicy salami, scotch bonnet chillies & red onion) on the other. The pizza was thin crust and delicious, definitely the best pizza I’ve had in London although the latter was a little on the spicy side for my tastes but the fire was easily quenched with one of the clubhouses cocktails!
They also have some amazing sharing cocktails which I really need to try including Tangled Twister which comes with its own Twister Board and spinner of doom!

This place can get crazy busy, but if you manage to swing by the earlier side of happy hour, it’s a great place for a cocktail. The bar has a really good vibe, and I love the cocktail menus that you can grab and pull down from the ceiling. Super friendly staff. You really can’t go wrong!

I love this bar, especially at happy hour. Pizzas bigger than your head and a bottle of wine for £24! Bargain!
Cocktails are nostalgically named after nineties songs and shows and the music is so retro it hurts! Great for a night out with a group of friends: D

Do you love 90s music?

Then this place is for you.
I have been here a handful of times and I have always left singing Usher and wanting more ‘Rollin with the Homies’ (the cocktail names are nostalgia personified) It is a good time bar full of cocktails and delights and the pizza are actually very very good.

I love friendly people at restaurants. It’s great when you feel welcomed and they are helpful and handled all your spleat/​yelp app discount combos with aplomb. Yep likey likey.
Apart from the friendliness, ESC has all sort of things going for it. The awesome 90s theme, the comfy sofa, fun 90s named cocktails (I enjoyed Running with the homies and Zara L.‘s Sweet Valley High; she seem to have liked *I think* cruel intentions, but Keep the Change was a bit too tart for me). In any case, we were both a bit tipsy by the beginning of the second cocktail, so they were strong…
Pizza wise they were large, crispy, hot, fresh, a little chewy and absolutely delicious. We split a large Plain Jane/​American Beauty between 3 and that was masses of food for us.
We’d definitely be back. Loved the drinks, the vibe and the location. What else not to like?

So, after a few visits here I’m officially done with the attitude of the staff and the service charge placed on tables. I made an effort to head to the bar when I was there recently and had to wait for way too long for a glass of wine when I was the only customer. Not only that, but the waitress was very iffy about me heading up there.
My last time visiting I figured it was just easier to sit at a table. One drink later with two friends, we got the bill, groaned about the ridiculous 12.5% service charge on three drinks and paid up.
Turned out our maths was a bit off and we were 2p short. I discovered this when the server followed me to frantically tell me this.
Considering the ridiculous service charge and the fact it was TWO PENCE and so probably an honest mistake you can let go I think perhaps following a customer out of the bar was a bit over the top?
It’s a shame to lose this handy bar but I’ll think I’ll head to one of the boozers nearby next time I need a pre-​Homeslice meetup place. I’d say head to Earlham St Clubhouse if you have a table on a Saturday night and so can enjoy the atmosphere, avoid the fights at the bar and then won’t feel too rinsed by the service!

I have been wanting to go back to Clubhouse since the Unilocal event a few months back. Having planned a girls night out, guessed it was the perfect opportunity. And it was — had a GREAT night out.
Clubhouse is a 90s themed pizzeria/​cocktail bar in the heart of Seven Dials. So one thing you need to know, is that their pizzas are AMAZING. Really, not joking, one of the best I have actually ever had in London.
Some other awesome things about Clubhouse:
— Cocktails are really really good, and at a good price for Central London. Count £7.50 full price, and £5 during happy hour (till 7pm). I suggest Cool Runnings. Om nom nom.
— Some tables have phones on them, and you can call tables and chat with random strangers. It’s fun, so much fun.
— You can download an app called Secret DJ to be able to select the music. The place being 90s themed, we went back into the 90s and danced, and sung.
— Staff is really nice and helpful. Yes, it really makes a difference.
And a few bits and bobs:
— There as some booths on the left hand side or at the back of the bar — you can book a table, it’s perfect for a group of 6 – 8 people
— Don’t go for the Twister shots. Not very nice, not worth the money.
— You can open a tab with the Spleat app. Since I referred some friends managed to get £20 off my bill, and all my friends got £10 off. Great deal.
— They do great pizza bundles and deals during the week. Check out their Facebook page or website.
In short? Well Clubhouse is basically one of my favourite places in London now. And can’t wait to go back.

I almost don’t want to write this review because ESC is the best-​kept secret in Seven Dials…
This is an American bar, but none of the staff are American haha. Doesn’t stop my friends from going here ALL the time anyway. The pizza is on point: thin crust, fresh toppings, generous portions, and perfectly seasoned. We went during the World Cup a few times, which was super fun — each time USA scored, the staff handed out free shots and pizza to the entire bar! So fun.
My only gripe is the beer selection. They should have a few American craft brews on tap — come on guys, nobody actually goes to a bar to drink Coors Lite willingly in America. Every time I go, I die a little bit on the inside at the massively missed opportunity for them to stock things like Sierra Nevada, Magic Hat, Dogfishhead, Lagunitas, Harpoon, and all the other American craft brews that I love and miss so dearly. Even a single Sam Adams tap would be a BIG improvement!
Great staff who clearly love their job. ESC is great fun during American events like the Superbowl, 4^th of July, and so on. It can be quiet during the week otherwise.

Since when did they start doing 90s themed bars!?! Really?!! Damn! I’m getting old!
I really liked Earlham Street Clubhouse. I liked the hip 90s theme décor with it’s slap-​dash wooden slats on the walls and ceilings. I loved all the 90s classic tunes! And the kitsch telephones in the booths (ours was a red stiletto).
Their pizzas are claimed to be the best in the World. Well, I don’t know about that, but their certainly the best I’ve had in London so far. I shared a Ross and Rachel (half and half 20″ pizza) with my side being the obligatory vegetarian side, which was an American Beauty. Delicious! Nice thin crust, not so crispy, soft but not sloppy. Good tangy, savoury sauce and beautifully charred courgette and aubergine slices.
Their cocktails however really weren’t great. For me, their menu on offer was sweet and boring. And then I asked for a Dark and Stormy and it was one of the worst I’d ever had! Seriously, how can you mess up a Dark and Stormy?! They put some syrup or something in the drink that competely destroyed the taste.
But the venue has a nice vibe and not too hectic. Good for groups starting out for the evening on weekends. Or maybe for a mid-​week catch up with a friend. There are lots of good mid-​week offers and for the quality of the pizza it worth checking out.
I may well go back again. …but not to try anymore cocktails.

Thanks to the new job, it’s been a while since I’ve written anything let alone gone out for a big night. But it was Dan’s 25^th birthday party and that seemed like a good excuse to finally get around to checking out Earlham St Clubhouse — a solid contender for the best pizza in London. ESC is 90s themed bar that happens to also serve up a pretty good pie. The décor is eclectic and kitschy– from the phones at each booth (ours was a red stiletto) to the ingenious use of suspenders to hang menus from the ceiling — but it does all add to the charm. Price-​wise, the pizzas and cocktails are both reasonable so it’s a spot almost everyone can be happy checking out.
Our crew went with the Super Mario (tomato based with spicy meatballs), the Happy Gilmore (prosciutto and parmesan with rocket), the American Beauty (grilled aubergine and courgette with roast peppers), and the Ferris Bueller (boasted chilli chicken, spicy salami, and scotch bonnet peppers).
The Super Mario and Happy Gilmore are fan favourites and you really can’t go wrong. The toppings were fresh and the pizza baked to perfection. Keep in mind, this isn’t your thin crust flaky style base — instead it’s closer to NYC-​style where you have to fold it to eat it. The base is slightly sweet and chewy but holds up well under the weight and liquid-​ness of the toppings.
The American Beauty was surprisingly good (I tend to shy away from veggie only pizzas) with the courgette keeping a bit of crunch and the aubergine adding a nice depth to the flavour profile. I was a bit disappointed the Ferris Bueller didn’t bring the heat though — if you are going to advertise scotch bonnet chillies, then you better amp up the burn otherwise I’m going to feel a bit cheated. Perhaps they were just having an off day though…
The cocktail list is a decent size and sticks to the theme although you can order any of the classics off-​menu. I went with an Old Fashioned as everything on the menu is served long and sounded a tad too sweet for my tastes. That being said, while everyone raved about their cocktail, my Old Fashioned was one of the worst I’ve had in a while and I quickly switched to beer and shots.
On a purely pizza price point, it’s good value and on par if not better with any of the pizza offerings in town. When you add drinks in, I think it gets expensive to spend the night there as it quickly adds up. Plus watch out for the 12.5% service charge if you are ordering from your booth.

Tucked away just off Seven Dials is this amazing pizza heaven. First time we came here was at 5PM in the middle of the week for an early dinner. We had already looked up the menu and decided on ordering the «Ross and Rachel» because not only does it let you try two different toppings but also the name is awesome!
Instead we received a lunch menu which is a bit different from the dinner one. The waiter was very nice in letting us still get the deal despite it being a bit past the cut-​off. Lunch menu offers either a 12″ pizza (£10) or a 9″ pizza + drink (£5). We got two 9″ «Ferris Bueller» pizzas. Pizza is superb, I was pretty much satisfied just looking at it. And not only does it look good but tastes even better! Thin crust with bubbly, melted cheese. Our particular toppings were chilli chicken, spicy salami, and scotch bonnet chillies. Ended up being too spicy for me but for someone who loves very spicy food this would be perfect.
I admit I only wanted the pizza for the name so next time I’ll try the more veggie, less spicy toppings (looking at you «American Beauty»).
The place was super quiet (well, for people not music) literally there was no one else besides us and the staff. This was the first time we went at 5PM. Fast forward to another weekday night but only two hours later and the place is PACKED. I also forgot to make a reservation for the 7PM night and we were not able to get a table. I definitely prefer going earlier for lunch but it’s cool to go later too, just make sure you make a reservation!

What? Eat a 20 inch pizza? Oh I couldn’t, I couldn’t. Go on then.
On the recommendation of my friend, we rocked up to Earlham Street Clubhouse for a post work feast. This place is huge, with loads of dark little cubbyholes to chill out and chowdown with friends. The decoration is 90s hip, with posters adorning the walls, the Fresh Prince over the stereo and nods to your favourite teenage pop culture references everywhere you look. Basically I loved it.
We had a very sweet server who offered to explain the menu, despite my assurance that I could, in fact, read. One ‘Ross and Rachel’ 20 inch, which is basically your choice of half and half any pizza on the menu, a cider and a very strong cocktail. They only have pizza, which I found a bit disappointing as I wanted pizza AND an appetizer*. But it was a goooooood pizza, I inhaled it! My favourite side was the proscuitto, parmesan and rocket.
And for dessert, well, well, well. They have a Crodough on the menu, from Rinkoff Bakery, in a variety of flavours. I had the caramel and pistachio, half croissant, half doughnut, 100% decadence! The server offered to give us a break between pizza and dessert but I was committed, I didn’t want to wait.
Earlham was hopping last night, so be sure to book if you want a table in the booth area. It’s a perfect central location for hanging out with friends after work.
* Give me some crisps or olives or something! SNACKS!

I have a new favourite hangout in central London, I think.
Located in the Covent Garden area, a short walk from either Leicester Square or Covent Garden tube stations, Earlham Street Clubhouse is a «90’s themed pizza and cocktail» bar /​restaurant.
If you’re not already sold on the place, you might want to stop reading.
It’s tricky to find, because Google Maps seems to think it’s located on Shorts Gardens. It’s not. It’s at 35 Earlham St, so bear that in mind when trying to locate the place.
It’s far bigger than it appears from the somewhat-​misleading entrance on the street. It’s quite cavernous actually, there are 4 different rooms with slightly different décor. The whole place is filled with 90s-​themed Americana, from film posters to beer adverts.
The menu is small and simple. A few pizzas, a few cocktails. No beer on the menu, but you can get it at the bar. The pizzas and cocktails are all hilariously named, from «Happy Gilmore» to «The Ross & Rachel». I was surprised by the value for money, given the location. A *massive* 20-​inch pizza for 2 was a reasonable £18, and you even get 10% off if you check-​in on Unilocal for your first time! (To check-​in, however, you’ll need to ask for the WiFi password, as there is no mobile reception, given the underground location of the place.)
The pizza was pretty darn good (not mind-​blowing), and the cocktails were legit.
…My only complaint is that this place didn’t have more Britpop stuff!
Come on! Britain in the 90s was pretty awful/​awesome, and it would be nice for more places in London to pay homage to retro Britain, and not just strive to be so American all the time.
Alas. I did like the place loads anyway!
Gotta go back and try a lagerita.

Normally I don’t buy into the trendy style of restaurants — and this place is trendy. Whether you’re calling other booths on your burger phone or pulling menus down from the ceiling and ordering pizzas based on 90s tv shows/​movies, it’s definitely trying to be a trendy place.
But the pizza is really good, and if you can’t decide, you can get a «Ross and Rachel» which is a half and half. I shared a 20 inch plain pizza with one person (£18 total) and we finished it, which is more than I’d usually eat — but the pizza is delicious and the crust is thin. And bendable, if you’re a New Yorker like me who rates the goodness of her pizza on the foldiness of the crust!
We didn’t have any cocktails, so I can’t vouch for that, but two people in my party had beer and enjoyed it. It’s a small menu but had good quality items.
The place is bigger than expected, and there’s no cell phone reception in most of it, so plan to meet friends in the entrance area upstairs — or use WiFi to talk to them.

I am going to go ahead and call it, this quirky new Pizza and Cocktail Bar is going to be popular, very popular.
There’s a definite 90s vibe about this place, from drinks with names like ‘Rollin’ with the homies’ (think ‘Clueless’) to half and half pizzas called ‘The Ross & Rachel’ this place takes you back a good 15 to 20 years, and trust me you will love it!
The décor is in line with the 90s theme. Couple of things that stand out are the Menus that hang from the ceiling and the Secret Juke box that lets you discretely select songs from an app.
The pizzas themselves were delicious. Not the most extensive menu, but good food. The drinks did not disappoint either. I had the Lagerita and would highly recommend it.
The one area I did feel was lacking was the service. The service was no doubt very friendly and helpful, but it took forever for someone to take our order even after numerous requests. But I suspect as its a new place they are still working out these kinds of logistic kinks.
All in all definitely a great place for a dinner with friends. I’ve already planned my next trip there!
