History

Established in 1993.

After establishing highly successful Pizzeria Franco Brixton in 1989 (now Franco Manca), Egyptian born entrepreneur Sami Wasif designed and opened Eco restaurant Clapham in 1993. With such good quality food and unique earthy design Eco quickly became the most successful restaurant in the South West of London.

Business Owner

Egyptian born Sami Wasif, arrived in the UK in 1976 after living and working in Italy. He began his work career in London from the kitchen sink but quickly moved up the ranks to managing large scale banqueting events at multiple hotels. Sami is about being physically engaged in whatever he is involved in this, married with his fiery attitude and inquisitive approach meant that he developed a broad range of skills. He also sat on the board of the trade unions and took these skills with him into the restaurant industry as an entrpreneur when he began in 1989 with Pizzeria Franco Brixton. Sami now has various food concepts and property portfolio under his belt.
