Egg Stores saved me in a pinch. I needed some Hanukkah candles for the first night of Hanukkah… and had literally no idea where to go. Luckily I did a quick search on Unilocal and found this spot, and it was great. It’s a medium sized Jewish grocery store. A few isles near floor to ceiling of things like Matzo Ball soup mix and kosher meats and anything else you could need. And yes, they had my Hanukkah candles(but no menorah, ah well.) The service was lacking(they had one kid behind the counter who barely spoke to me, much less smiled) but they had what I needed and that was enough. A good spot for these items.

So on the talk threads someone was looking for Hanukkah candles and being the good little Jewish girl I am, I thought it was about time I reviewed Egg Stores. It’s actually called that, Egg Stores, and it’s pretty much opposite to the huge grave yard in Stoke Newington. I come here for several things; Hanukkah candles, Yahrzeit candles, Shabbat candles(basically any kind of candle a Jew would ever need) as well as Matzo meal, noodle soup mix, kosher sweets. You name it, and they probably have it. Don’t expect friendly service, don’t come in here showing too much skin, be respectful of the family serving and you’ll be fine. This is a frum area and this is a store that is for the locals, run by the locals. I love it! It’s worth the bus ride out here once a year to get all my needs fixed.
