Electroacoustic Club is an intimate little showcase night which takes place at The Slaughtered Lamb. The room looks a little thrown together, but in an intentional, atmospheric way. It has a real homely feel which makes you feel relaxed and able to enjoy the music. Artists are usually of a good quality and varied meaning the entry fee is worth paying. The crowd are also respectful towards the music and don’t chat constantly when artists are on stage. There is a passion amongst everyone in the room and by those who run the event. It is well worth signing up to their mailing list or visiting their website to see in advance who is playing and checking their Myspace pages to see if you fancy going. The pub upstairs is also very nice and it is a good idea to show up an hour or so before the Electroacoustic gig starts so that you can enjoy a pint. The pub is a 5 minute walk from Farringdon station with parking available in surrounding streets during the evenings. Check this night out if you wish to expand your musical horizons or just want to sample what is happening on the London scene.

The Electroacoustic Club is a concert series promoted at the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell. Neither an open mic night nor a strictly regular occurrence(nor, officially, either electro or acoustic) The Electroacoustic Club is more properly the name applied to a promoter’s sensibilities. Thus, misleadingly, you are as likely to hear blue-eyed soul here as you are a girl with a guitar or a full-out rock assault, it just depends upon the lineup. The only unifying aspect is location and the focus on songcraft. Cover at the Electroacoustic Club is £5−6, which is pretty reasonable considering you are seeing at least two bands a night. The PA is reasonable if not immaculate, but the best part is the acts. Club bookers bring a really varied slate to the Slaughtered Lamb, some local, some from further afield, affording a really nice cross-section of talents and sensibilities that you might not otherwise hear in London.
